The hospital is renowned for its world-class expertise in animal oncology, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. By combining cutting-edge diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology with exceptional specialist care, AURA attracts referrals from across the country and beyond, offering a definitive resource for pet owners seeking the highest standard of medical intervention.

Expertise and Advanced Diagnostics

The clinical team at AURA is composed of highly proficient specialists who are leaders in their respective fields. Owners frequently highlight the exceptional skill of consultants such as Professor Nick Bacon and Dr. Jonathan Bray, who are praised for their ability to provide second opinions and perform complex procedures that other specialists may deem inoperable. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including advanced CT and MRI capabilities, which allows for precise diagnoses and minimally invasive treatments. Patients benefit from a multidisciplinary approach where anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and interventional medicine are seamlessly integrated to ensure optimal outcomes.

Compassionate Care and Communication

While the medical expertise is top-tier, the human element is what truly defines the patient experience for many. Reviews consistently praise the compassionate and empathetic nature of the entire staff, from the receptionists to the veterinary nurses. Owners report feeling supported during traumatic times, with many noting that the team treats their pets with genuine love and affection. Key strengths highlighted by clients include:

  • Clear and Regular Communication: The team is commended for keeping owners informed with regular updates, often providing multiple calls or emails per day during hospitalization.
  • Empathetic Support: Staff are described as patient and understanding, taking the time to explain complex conditions and treatment options without rushing the consultation.
  • Dedicated Nursing Care: Nurses and interns are frequently mentioned for their kindness, going above and beyond to comfort anxious animals and reassure worried owners.

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Efficiency

The hospital itself is described as a modern, clean, and welcoming environment designed with animal comfort in mind. Features such as individual waiting pods and comfortable seating areas help reduce stress for pets and their owners. The facility is highly efficient, often able to see urgent referrals quickly, which is crucial for emergency cases. Many owners express profound gratitude for the rapid turnaround in diagnostics and the swift progression to surgery or treatment plans, noting that this speed can be life-saving. The overall consensus is that while the cost reflects the premium nature of the service, the quality of care, expertise, and emotional support provided make it an invaluable resource for pets with serious health challenges.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility, professional staff, life-saving care.

Fantastic experience: Private medical care is never cheap, the same applies to Veterinary care for our beloved pets. Insurance does cover to a point and then you have to make a informed & balanced decision if you need to dig deep in your pocket to deal with the intricacies of your pet illness/injury. Aura is no different to any vets in this instance. What makes the difference with them is the care & attention they will provide to get your " loved one" better. We came to Aura as our local vet couldn't diagnose and therefore deal with our beloved cat. We were met & supported by a dedicated team who diagnosed Addison Disease, very rare in cats , and who tried their very best to save his life, but sadly we had to let him go eventually. I would like to especially mention Orianne who went beyond the call of duty to try and find to right treatment for him, as sadly the disease is so rare that there wasn't much studies/papers on it. She was totally determined to get him better and constantly communicated with us to talk about treatments/progress or not, always so caring. Laura & lucy were excellent too and so were all the reception staff. I will not hesitate to recommend Aura Veterinary to anyone as I believe them to be outstanding .

Negative experience: I brought my cat, Bentley, to Aura for investigation and a biopsy after a period of ongoing gastrointestinal issues. Given Aura’s reputation as a leading referral centre, I chose to come here having been told and believing, that he would receive the highest standard of care during what was already a very distressing time. I am giving two stars: one because the clinical procedure itself was carried out, and one solely because of Megan at reception, who made a genuine effort to send me photos of him when he was kept overnight. This was despite me waking up before 6am to get him there for 8am, specifically so I could bring him home the same day. That small act of care did not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell well below expectations, particularly given the cost and reputation. What was far more concerning was his condition when I collected him after the biopsy. He smelled foul, was visibly soiled, and his waste had been wiped and matted into his fur. He was clearly distressed. I had to take him straight from the clinic to a groomer to be cleaned his condition was so bad, which felt incredibly unfair on him after already going through a hospital procedure and a long journey. When I called to understand what had happened, I was met with a nonchalant apology and a sense of indifference, which I found shocking and disappointing. I found the staff to be inconsistent, some were fine, but overall the approach felt cold and transactional rather than warm or compassionate. This was surprising given how Aura is positioned and recommended. Bentley’s condition turned out to be tragically terminal, so the time I had with him was incredibly limited. Being told he was “stable” and therefore low priority resulting in him being kept overnight and effectively losing one of our final nights together is something I will always struggle to accept. I would encourage other pet owners to trust their instincts, pay attention to how both they and their animals are received, and take note of the level of care and humanity shown. While I understand they see many cases and cannot share the same bond owners have with their pets, I would not recommend Aura. I regret putting Bentley through additional stress for what I believed would be the best care, but ultimately did not experience. It simply wasn’t worth it, and I remain extremely disappointed.

Fantastic experience: All the staff at Aura were phenomenal with helping my little boy Rocco (Blue & Red Staffy), he unfortunately passed from Alabama rot at the age of 2 but they did everything in there power to help him fight it, i had to be referred there on a Sunday at around 5 o’clock not many would help and they took him in and cared for him straight away, no messing about, there communication was fantastic and there care for my boy cant be faulted. They have helped us personally with our loss as-well and anyone out there with a really rare condition such as Alabama rot… I wouldn’t trust anyone else to take care of your beloved pet. It felt like they loved him as much as I. In terms of payment, they offered so much support and never pressured us to make the final payment, you pay a deposit but if you think that you shouldn’t have to, thats just silly, if you care enough for your animal, money means nothing!

Thank you for such a lovely review, even after such heartache from losing Rocco. We are so sorry for your loss, it was clear to all of us how dearly your whole family loved him. Sending love from all of us at AURA at this difficult time xxx

Negative experience: My 2yo dog was refereed urgently by our vet on 16/3 after suspected spinal cord compression/ herniation . She said he needed an MRi and likely surgery. He had back leg weakness, neurological symptoms, severe pain, vomiting, panting and spasams. pain relief was doing nothing. He was insured by many pets and they are great.. I was told by oncology at 5pm to bring him in for imaging and not to worry about costs at the moment, but I I explained we had fab insurance that they claimed direct with before. I told them id call back as needed to arrange childcare etc as it’s a long drive. I was called back very quickly and told he needs to be seen RIGHT AWAY and they take these symptoms very seriously. I said we were just arranging travel and child/dog care as our boy needs someone sat with him but we would be leaving very soon and told them I felt very pressured. I was then told we must pay £3000 upfront as the first down payment for imaging. I explained we didn’t have that upfront, we had 1k in the bank but that he was insured (my husband is literally setting up the crate in the car for the 2 hour trip) . I was then told the accounts team were shut “ so it’s just how it is” I said I’d already spoken to someone and they said not to worry about money? “Who said that?”I told them the last I spoke too? asked if they could claim to the ins direct like they did last time? I was told “well that was with our other hospital”. I asked if they could sort ins tomo as we simply don’t have 3k right now and he’s in agony…”NO” . I asked to speak to a vet as this was disgusting “they’re busy in surgeries”. I asked if they were categorically refusing to see my 2yo dog with a spinal emergency unless I found £3000 INSTANTLY (that’s just for the imaging and not the surgery) and they said “sorry it’s out policy”. I told them I’ll never be able to find that so quickly. I called our local vet and explaiend and they were!unimpressed. We had no choice but to have our baby euthanised at home as he was in excruciating pain. I am beyond upset. At least we could give him that! I thought Fitzpatricks soft tissue were amazing. Dr Laurent did his throat surgery, we paid the excess, the claim went straight through, the care was amazing. If your pet has an emergency between 4.30 pm and 9am- unless you’re rich then you’re penalised. No matter how good your insurance is. If love could have saved him it would have. You’re just a business after all.

Positive experience: I took my dog here late at night having been referred in an emergency. He was to be cared for and monitored overnight with the likelihood of an operation needing to take place the next day. The first impressions were a bit cold and unsettling. I found it quite shocking being asked for 50% upfront for a great deal of money. My main concern was the welfare of my pet and it does make you take a step back and ask the question “Are they going to care for my pet or do they just want his money?”. But at midnight and your pet is unwell, what are you to do? We’d been in such a rush it was lucky I had a credit card on me, especially as we’d driven from London. From then on then on things got a bit more human and caring. The operation went well. Initially I was shocked at a wound that was difficult to look at, but it healed beautifully. Especially as I did have a previous pet with the same condition whose wound did not look so grievous. But 3 weeks on it looks very well healed, surprisingly so. The contact was mostly good and we were well informed. However we did need some more advice, and consequently medication when a minor complication arose and it took 2 days and 3 phone calls to get a response, resulting in us not getting the medication for 4 days. Saying this, on the other hand we got a call from one of the vets (Mathis) at around 7pm on a Friday that our pet had the all clear for cancer, apparently they were just going to clock off but wanted us to know rather than waiting until Monday which was extremely thoughtful. In summary, I think once you get past the people with their handout which feels like some sort of ransom, the vets care for them very well, the operation went well, we were kept informed, all our questions got answered and the healing process looks very good.

Positive experience: When we first got to Aura with our poorly little baby we were scared and a bit overwhelmed. The initial contact with the night team felt a bit cold to be honest and quite transactional. The best part is that our boy is now back home and healing well. A special thank to the surgeons that operated on him and kept us informed on his progress. Also Mathis was such a star and called us on a Friday evening after hours to let us know our boy was clear of cancer ❤️. Thanks Mathis for lifting a huge weight of our chest from our whippet baby and his adoring family

Negative experience: We were referred for an internal medicine consultation for our dog and within 2 days we received 5 phone calls and 6 emails demanding £320 be paid well before the appointment. We were happy to pay a deposit to hold our spot but were told this is not possible. We felt that they were overly interested in the monetary aspect of securing a spot and not concerned about our pet or the fact that it is a lot of money for some people, especially in January. I explained that we had insurance as well and gave them the policy number to show them. Again was told abruptly that this is their policy and that was it. I called another well respected vet hospital in Marlow and they were very friendly and understanding and don’t demand an upfront payment prior to seeing the animal. I’m sure Aura is an excellent vet hospital but their finance dept felt aggressive to us which has caused us to go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: This wonderful team saved our precious dog’s life last week. The facility itself is state of the art and we experienced such kindness, professionalism, care and outstanding communication from this skilled team particularly Mathis and Anna who operated on Bailey. Mathis looked after us amazingly from the moment we arrived until we could take Bailey home. We were so blown away by our experience at Aura at such a traumatic time. My words don’t do it justice. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Our beloved cat, Nimitz, was diagnosed with a lymphoma in his right front paw. It had also spread up his leg and into his lymph nodes in his armpit. We were referred to Aura for treatment. Although we had no insurance or huge funds available we were treated respectfully and never judged. The oncologist talked us through our options and a plan was made. Quentin was nothing but fantastic trying everything to treat our precious boy. We had calls throughout his visits keeping us updated on progress as well as in between appointments to check up on him and give advice on any issues. We cannot fault them in any way. Unfortunately Nimitz lost his fight with cancer on 9th July with us all holding him. Even after this Aura have stayed in touch and been incredibly supportive, sending us a card with beautiful words . Thank you all at Aura for trying to save Nimitz and for your kindness and support after his passing.

Negative experience: I brought my beloved cat to this clinic during the final stages of her illness, and while some of the staff—particularly the front desk—were kind and compassionate, my overall experience was marked by deep disappointment and grief. On the last day of her life, my request to have 5 more minutes with her was coldly denied. I clarified she was scheduled to be euthanize the next day. She passed away before I could see her again, and I will carry the pain of that abrupt ending with me. I don’t think I can ever forget—or forgive—that moment. The oncologist I interacted with also came across as detached, which only added to the sense that compassion was missing when it was needed most. This clinic is, for many of us, the last stop in our pet’s life. What is routine for staff is often the most devastating moment in an ours. I urge the leadership to retrain and reinforce this perspective daily. The knowledge and the expertise of this clinic I do not question. They did everything they could for her. But similar to other vets, they tried to restrict visits on the last week of her life. That said, I want to acknowledge the front desk team, whose warmth, empathy and professionalism helped me through some of the hardest days. I’m grateful to them for that.

Dear Lily,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly sorry to hear of your continued pain following the passing of your beloved cat, and we want to extend our deepest condolences for your loss.

Our entire team cared deeply for her and did everything possible to support her through her illness. We understand how incredibly difficult it is to say goodbye to a beloved pet, and we deeply regret that you were not able to be with her in her final moments. Please know that this is heartbreaking for us as well. While our clinical team always aims to facilitate visits wherever possible—especially during such critical times—there are moments, particularly when patients are in isolation or experience sudden decline, where decisions must be made in the interest of safety and medical necessity. In such cases, despite our best efforts, the situation may unfold too quickly to allow the time we would all wish for.

We sincerely appreciate your kind words about our front desk team. It means a great deal to know that their empathy and support made a difference during such a painful time.

We have attempted to reach out to you directly, and we would still welcome the opportunity to speak with you further, should you wish. Please don’t hesitate to contact our Hospital Services Manager at [email protected]

Fantastic experience: We honestly can’t thank the team at Aurua enough for everything they did for our dog, Leo. From the very first consultation to the all-clear after his surgery, their care, communication, and kindness were faultless. Leo’s Journey: Leo is our 4-year-old Chug, and earlier this year, we discovered a lump on his prepuce. It turned out to be a cutaneous mast cell tumour. Understandably, we were worried, but once we were referred to Aurua, we felt confident we were in the right hands. Surgery & Timeline: The whole process moved quickly and smoothly. We had an oncology consultation on 12th March, and Leo had surgery to remove the tumour on 21st March. Everything went well, and he came home the same day. We went back for a follow-up and stitch removal on 11th April, and the recovery since has been brilliant no sign of the tumour returning, and Leo is totally back to himself. • 1st Feb: Initial diagnosis • 26th Feb: Fine Needle Aspiration • 12th March: Oncology consultation • 21st March: Surgery • 11th April: Follow-up & stitch removal • Now: Full recovery and no further issues Communication & Care: Every single person we dealt with at Aurua was lovely kind to Leo, and kind to us. He gets a bit nervous in clinical settings, but they were gentle, calm, and reassuring the whole way through. They kept us updated at every stage and always explained things clearly, without being overly clinical. We felt genuinely cared for. Cost & Insurance: We were quoted £5,000 to £6,000. The total bill for Leo’s treatment was £5,985.21. Our insurance (Animal Friends) covered £2,000 of that for the tumour, with a £99 excess. Aurua were brilliant in helping us handle the claims process, it was all clearly explained, and there were no surprises. Outcome:We’re so relieved to say that Leo is now cancer-free. He’s back to bouncing around the house and being his cheeky self. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Final Thoughts:If you’re looking for a vet who’ll treat your pet like their own, keep you informed, and go the extra mile, Aurua is absolutely the place. They were amazing with Leo, and we’ll always be grateful for the care they gave him — and us.

Fantastic experience: I wish I never had to write this review… But I’m so grateful for the excellent care they’ve given my dog during his battle with lymphoma. It’s been almost seven months of treatment so far, with two more to go. Throughout it all, they’ve been compassionate, professional, and truly dedicated. I couldn’t have asked for better support during such a difficult time.

Fantastic experience: We were told by a highly reputable specialist that our dog’s right-sided liver tumour was practically inoperable, and were therefore going through the stages of anticipatory grief. My wife then chanced upon a post online where a dog with a very similar tumour was saved by Aura, and specifically Dr Jonathan Bray. We couldn’t believe it when we met Dr Bray and he gave us an 85% chance of a successful operation! Not only that, but also that the operation would not even require the removal of the gall bladder, nor the cutting open of the diaphragm and sternum. How can oncology specialists differ that much in opinion? Anyway, we didn’t think twice, and booked him in that very same evening. It is now 2 months after the operation, and our dog is rejuvenated. Tumour fully removed and back to his old pre-cancer energy levels. It is nothing short of a miracle, and we are eternally grateful to Dr Bray and the team for their skill not just in the operating theatre but the aftercare during his recovery. I don’t normally write reviews, but I wanted to post this not just to publicly thank Aura but also help other owners who were preparing to say goodbye like we were. As the old adage goes, always get a second opinion.

Fantastic experience: The best vets and staff I've ever had the pleasure to encounter and five stars do not do them justice. With our pet cat Angel struggling to eat and drink and having received devastating news regarding our cat from a local small animal hospital to say our cats tumour was inoperable and and given just weeks to live we decided to explore Noel Fitzpatrick now Aura Veterinary and it was the best decision I could've possibly made. Once the referral was accepted I was able to take my pet the following day and we had a wonderful welcome from the receptionist Kerri and after consultation from the brilliant oncologist John and his wonderful staff of Lavinia and Claire we were confident and comfortable to leave Angel in their hands whilst making the long journey back home. We had news within 24 hours that the tumour had been removed successfully and was to be sent off for further tests which has since come back as non cancerous and we were able to collect our cat and take her home. All the staff at Aura were simply fantastic and when she was brought out for us to collect by another excellent nurse who's name I'm sorry I can't recollect, she had so much energy and happiness and was able to eat and drink without struggling and the surgeon John and his staff had clearly done an excellent job. Finally a big shout to the receptionists on the day Wioletta and Toni. As we'd travelled 250 miles on a Friday around London, Toni kindly printed off a route planner where I managed to avoid traffic heading home plus getting lost as I did on the way back from my previous visit. I can't recommend Aura enough and if anyone has a pet who's unwell and their local vets and hospitals say they are unable to assist then please check with Aura. The compassion and professionalism we've received from John and his nursing staff along with front of desk and finance staff was second to none and we couldn't be happier. Thank you again Gareth & Sylvia

Fantastic experience: Aura treated my 2yo cat’s badly infected (bitten) tail, which the local vet said should be amputated. Aura took great care of her and did an excellent job - she was healed and back climbing trees in no time. I only wish I’d asked for a referral there much, much sooner. Also very pleased with PetPlan for paying the bills with very minimal fuss.

Fantastic experience: My local vet is good, but with Aura you really see the difference it makes to go to the best in the field. The whole experience was so professional and smooth, from being offered a quick appointment to arrival and check in you can see that animal comfort has been considered at every step. Though the real reason that you go is for the vets, they are they are the best in their speciailties and it really shows. My dog had bizarre blood test results so I was recommended Aura, they carefully explained every step in person and then the same day I had that information repeated it in an email so I had time to absorb all the detail. It's hard to put into words the relief you feel when you know you are getting answers and that your beloved pet is getting the best possible care. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My local vet referred my dog to Aura due to suspected cancer mass seen on his liver. From date of referral to his operation was approx 4 weeks and I am very pleased I decided to use Aura instead of seeing an Oncologist locally as the operation turned out to be a lot more complex than anticipated. From the reception staff through to the surgical specialists, it was clear that the care of my dog was of upmost importance. However what stood out to me was Prof Nick Bacon took the time to call me prior to my dog’s operation to make sure I was ok. That kindness meant everything. 10 days on from my dog’s op, he is recovering remarkably as if nothing had happened; I am still in recovery from the ordeal however I cannot thank Aura and the whole team enough and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Jenny C Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Jonathan operated on my beloved Bichon Frise, successfully removing a part of his liver that had cancer cells. The fees are higher than other specialists, but the waiting time for a consultation certainly made up for it. Having initially been referred somewhere else where the waiting list for a consultation was 4 weeks, I sought Aura, who were able to see my dog the same week. His recovery has been tremendous, and the twice daily calls whilst he was an inpatient showed they truly care for both the dogs and the owners. Follow-up calls were also much appreciated, I never once felt like my dog and I were just another number. Would highly recommend!

Positive experience: I feel more information is required about chemo treatment for old dogs and effects of chemo toxicity and what to look for. I understand every dog is different and is difficult to know how they will react. Had we had this information I wonder if the outcome for our dog would have been different. God bless Fitch. Regards Corinne Simmons.

Negative experience: Please I am writing this, to make people aware of what Aura as a practice has done to my sisters two dogs. I beg you to really consider using this practice and if you do, let it be at your own peril. On two separate occasions, they have taken the lives of two dogs. Within the space of a couple of years. By two different vets. First being an older dog granted, but they made a mistake during his operation, so they had to go back in to theatre, which subsequently made the dog suffer so much so, that a few days later he had to be put down. On the second occasion, this year, with a lot of trepidation my sister was advised to have a further operation for my sisters second healthy enough dog to sustain an operation with Aura. He died during this, they couldn’t give us a reason as to why this happened!!! After this we heard nothing from them..no follow up to apologise or to see how my sister was doing. Eventually my sister received an abrupt email for payment! They didn’t respond to us when we replied and it’s been cat and mouse and a lot of playing for time since. Every email has been dismissive, has been insincerely written and always ends with wanting the settlement of full payment! Money is no object..but morals and principles are. I feel that not taking them to task makes for no justice, for the the two dogs lives that they took away by malpractice, not from the illness they were in for. These vets need naming and shaming and the practice too needs to be known for taking advantage of their desperate customers, also the rude and abrupt attitude of their staff is beyond unacceptable. If it wasn’t for the cost and time to take these types of companies to task..with no doubt their insurance cover and loop holes to bend the rules, then believe me I would not hesitate to absolutely get this practice closed down. All I can hope for, is that more people come forward to bring a case against Aura, with similar incidents. As I am so worried for any other further pets to go through this, if it can been prevented. We tried to take them on, they used their avoiding tactics and hounding bully technics to push us into a corner. They made my sister feel threatened to have to pay the full amount.

Fantastic experience: Aura have been fantastic treating our beloved dog with cancer and the surgery they performed has saved his life, so can’t ask for better than that. The staff are all so lovely and the waiting area is kept beautifully clean.

Fantastic experience: We discovered a very large tumour on our dog and were referred to Aura for specialist treatment. They were fantastic right from the outset and contacted us within two hours of receiving the referral, booked her in for the following week and even handled putting in the claim with our insurance company which was one less thing for us to worry about. All the staff on reception were incredibly helpful with great communication and very friendly. Our dog's consultation with the vets was very thorough and scans were booked in for the following day, receiving results on the same day of the scan. Our dog was booked in for surgery as soon as possible and despite a not particularly positive prognosis based on the scans, the surgeons did an amazing job and were able to remove the entire tumour in the end which was a huge relief. Whilst it was hard to hear, we appreciated the honesty and upfront nature of the explanation vets gave to us. Our dog is quite challenging at the vets and can be reactive with vet staff, everyone was very patient and understanding and we were not judged for this - very refreshing as we have had some issues with that with previous vets. Everyone was so helpful on all fronts which helped us a lot during a very stressful time. I would strongly recommend Aura to anybody who requires care and specialist attention for their pets. The facilities and technology available are state of the art and all staff incredibly skilled in their field.

Negative experience: AVOID! I was charged £1,680 for a 7 minute consultation and a completely unnecessary ultrasound, as one had already been done, hence the reason I was there in the first place. I received wrongful advice on medication by an intern, which very nearly killed my pet. Extremely rude and uncaring staff. It’s all about the money here!

Fantastic experience: Very modern and bright premises. Very caring and experienced veterinary hospital. The staff were very kind and took the time to go through the diagnosis and answer any questions. They also phoned us up twice a day to give us an.update on the situation with our cat. They are very expensive though.

Positive experience: From the moment you walk in the door you know your experience will be good , the love of animals is apparent in everyone at the practice , the reception is so well thought out . This was a very stressful visit but every person made it known my dog was on good hands .

Negative experience: I realised after posting my original review how wrong i was to praise them, in hindsight they failed my pet miserably by missing essential tests which ultimatly led to a late diagnosis that killed my boy. I'd advise against going here for cancer treatments but go directly to Southfields vetinary in Essex as they have the specialist and facilities to diagnose & treat cancer diagnosis far quicker

Fantastic experience: Delivery of X Ray machine.

Fantastic experience: An amazing place indeed. Our last hope for our boy and so far so good. The estimated cost vs final cost was good, lower than the estimate. The team kept in regular contact and the information provided was precise and comforting, thank you to the Aura team.

Fantastic experience: The team at Aura are brilliant. They operated on my dog Ellie after a CT scan. The communication between myself and the vet was excellent which gave me the confidence to agree to the procedure. Throughout they contacted me with updates and even helped with my insurance claim.

Gill Luck Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Every member of staff is outstanding. Considering that you are in a high state of anxiety and emotions, they manage to feel confident that they have a thorough care plan for your beloved pet. They also make such a fuss of your dog. Extremely kind people.

Fantastic experience: My dog was run over. Everyone at Aura have been absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much.

Graeme Smith Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Our young cocker spaniel (1 year old at the time) had problems with chronic ear infections (pseudomonas) and we were referred to Aura. The surgeon explored every possible option with us during a lengthy consultation process and explained the best course of action in each scenario based on the MRI scans. He answered our many questions clearly and was very patient with us which we had not experienced elsewhere. Unfortunately we had no other choice after scans to proceed with ear canal ablations in both ears. The surgeon did a great job and personally followed up about our dog’s well being weeks after the surgery. Our dog now has a much better quality of life and is no longer in agony. His hearing has obviously been impacted but his life is so much better now. The level of care from the rest of the Aura team was absolutely fantastic too. For what was a really difficult and stressful time, Aura were excellent and I couldn’t recommend them enough. One other benefit was that Aura directly billed our pet insurance company so we didn’t even have to pay the significant cost (thousands) of the surgery and claim it back through our pet insurance.

Fantastic experience: Because my granddaughter works there and I’m so very proud of her

Joanna Burke Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I would not even give them 1 star...I decided to go to Fitzpatrick in Guildford which is not run by Noel but Nick Bacon whom is now called Aura Vets, I would strongly recommend not using them, they prescribed my dog to stay on steroids for the rest of her life which was unjustified and deteriorated her condition considerably, I got a second referral who disagreed with their diagnosis but Aura stand by their decisions! they performed x-rays costing me a huge amount of money unnecessarily, they were rude, abrupt, unresponsive when I tried to get a resolution to my dogs condition. They did not care about my dog they care about the money, I tried to escalate and make a complaint they were rude. Unless I take them to court, there is nothing I can do. I will never go there again

Positive experience: Went with my daughter and her dog who was undergoing treatment, a lovely well laid out reception area with a coffee machine for you if you have to wait and WiFi if needed and the staff we're very pleasant and understanding because it can be stressful when you're beloved pet is poorly.

Diane Andrews Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very friendly reception staff. Vets are caring and explain things to you very well. My boy is more than happy to see everyone when he gets there!!

tony harvey Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing vet, sadly it wasn't meant to be for my dog magic. But aura made me and him very comfortable and gave me a private room until I was ready and for that I thank you. This vet showed me a huge level of respect and dignity and I wouldn't go anywhere else with my pets now.

Ian Willis Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic place and a totally different level compared to other vets! Our 3yr old rescue dog from Portugal Betty was referred to Aura after being diagnosed with a grade 2 soft tissue sarcoma. During our consultation Jonathan Bray informed us she would need a wide excision to remove the tumour along with reconstructive surgery of the area using a skin flap. We were of course very worried as this was major surgery and sounded daunting for such a small dog, but Dr Bray was extremely knowledgeable and reassuring and filled us with great confidence that she was in the best hands. They kept us well informed on the day of surgery and we got regular updates twice daily during the five days she was in hospital. Betty is now three weeks post surgery, stitches have been removed and she is recovering really well. She should make a full recovery and we hope will have no more problems for the rest of her life. We cannot thank Jon and his team enough for everything they have done. She has received such amazing care and so much love from all involved - everyone from the nursing team through to the receptionists and admin staff have been amazing! And just a word on costs as we’ve read several negative comments here - the cost of our treatment ended up coming in at around £1000 less than the original estimate, which was not only a pleasant surprise but also seemed good value considering what she had done and how long she was in for. Reviews that talk about additional costs racking up or being squeezed on itemised billing are completely unfounded in our experience and are perhaps a legacy of previous ownership/management. We cannot recommend Aura highly enough if your pet is unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with cancer, you can rest assured they will be receiving the best possible treatment and you are giving them the best chance. We are so grateful to you for giving Betty her life back.

Fantastic experience: Wow I don’t know where to start! This journey has been a huge emotional rollercoaster for all of us! Long story short; Magda and her team saved our 5 month old Bullmastiff puppy’s life. Prince is so special to us all, and you did everything you could and more to save him. Everyone that works at aura is so lovely and kind and professional, they provided round the clock intensive care for our boy, and carried out major surgery and because of that he is still with us now. Magda, we want to thank you personally for everything you’ve done for us. You are so kind, and you’ve cared for our prince in ways we never thought anyone could. We really can’t recommend aura veterinary enough, thank you again so so much, prince & family xxx

Fantastic experience: These people are just amazing! From the minute I walked through the door I was greeted warmly, politely and helpfully by everyone from medical practitioners to admin staff. They hospital building is clean and light and welcoming. Everything was explained to me clearly and with patience and I was given time to ask any questions or raise any concerns. My little Pug, Eric, has had a number of procedures to remove a mast cell tumour. I have now been advised that following surgery there is no evidence of mast cell tumour and no further treatment is required. Eric is my heart. He is only 7 years old and it makes me the happiest I can be to know we can make more memories together. Thank you to you all, and especially Jonathan Bray, Senior Consultant Surgeon and Maria, Eric's nurse.

Susan Adams Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: When my dog was diagnosed with mast cell tumours I was told the best treatment was surgery to remove these large lumps. My vets were ready to do this but I wanted a vet specialising in oncology and Aura certainly delivered. Because they had the experience and diagnostic equipment available the lumps were identified as lipomas or fatty lumps prior to surgery. This diagnoses saved my dog from an unnecessary and long surgery with all the associated risks, pain and long recovery. They were very professional from the outset and I can not recommend them highly enough.

Sam F Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: After discovering a large lump on our dogs spleen with a a 50/50 chance of it being cancerous it was recommended by our vet we see a specialist for further testing. After failing to hear back after 5 days for an initial consultation from a different specialist we pursued AURA. The next day after a 1.5hr drive our dog was seen, had a CT scan followed by a splenectomy just hours after. We are incredibly greatful for the professionalism and compassion of ALL the staff at such a worrying time. Our dog has made a fantastic recovery and fortunately been given the all clear thank you again.

Fantastic experience: Very professional, best care my dog has ever had, they saved his life after a serious dog attack

Lise Robert Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Be very aware that what is quoted, is NOT what is charged. They omit that every single bandage change or follow up post op wound care is not included and usually amounts to about the same of than the original quote. Also be vigilant about their post op care. Our poor dog had to be subjected to a 2nd op due to a fault with a bandage that was put on too tight and caused a pressure sore. They kept assuring us all was fine (despite us sending numerous photos and emails within 2hrs of the bandage change, saying "help... this doesn't look right!") Not once did they call us in to assess our concern. In fact, we drove back after 2 days of following their advice and assurances and insisted they have a look. They then accepted that the bandage had been too tight and had a tourniquet effect. To add insult to injury, we had to pay for the 2nd op caused by their failure to respond quickly. And again, what was quoted was NOT what was charged. We understand that mistakes can be made. But failing to react faster to our numerous photos and emails and not assess the problem, amounts to negligence. We have paid just under £9,000 for what was supposed to be around £6,000 in total (mast cell tumour removal op, scan and consult) and still they are hounding us for an additional £980 something. The reception staff are brilliant. The facility, impressive. But as for the rest, we feel let down and are having to escalate our case to outside meditation and the Royal Veterinary Council as we are loathe to pay any more for a complication caused/exacerbated by THEM.

Fantastic experience: Our whippet Maisy was diagnosed with a cancerous lump on her forearm. Nick Bacon, the specialist who dealt with this was fantastic, explaining everything very clearly and gave us options of treatment. It was decided to remove the lump and then do a skin graft. We were kept up to date on her treatment and while she was an inpatient we received two updates per day which was very reassuring. We are super pleased with the treatment that Maisy received at Fitzpatrick Oncology from both Nick and his dedicated team and would highly recommend them. Grateful thanks to you all!

I E Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Appalling communication skills. To add to the fact that they have still not dealt with our complaint they now seem unable to communicate with our vet or us regarding the ongoing care of our dog. The life of our dog is in their hands requiring rapid turnaround of communications and the oncology unit are failing spectacularly. They are playing with the life and welfare of our dog.. †***************************************************** The surgical teams are proficient although did not provide any added benefit over our local vet. The post operative care teams were woeful to the point of us worrying about the ongoing care of our dog. Really, really disappointing and the famous "Fitzpatrick" should be aware of how his name is being tarnished by his subordinates.

Fantastic experience: Saved Mollys Life. We were referred to Fitzpatrick’s by our vet who said it was our only hope as our 10 year old cocker spaniel Molly had Cancer in three separate areas, Kidney, Chest and throat. Her chances of living more than a few weeks were non existent. It has been a long road since April but the whole team have been fantastic kind and caring. After some very difficult decisions along the way, an initial weeks stay in their hospital and then weekly visits she is now in complete remission. We are hopeful that she could be with us for years to come. After her leaving party we were told that they thought that she would not make it through on at least three occasions but with their depth of knowledge, Chemotherapy and a blood transfusion four months later she is discharged only needing to return for check ups. Due to Their their excellent advice, knowledge and clinical skills as well as measured informed choices given to us along the way she is back to her naughty fun loving self again. We can not thank them enough for saving our little girl.

Fantastic experience: The team at Fitzpatrick saved my dog. He had to have surgery and then he had to stay to be monitored and I have never been so upset and worried in my life. However, the team were outstanding. There was never a moment that I doubted or did not have trust in them. They really are the best of the best. Every single person we spoke with and saw at Fitzpatrick were not only so professional but also kind, patient and understanding. They explained everything to us in so much detail and we had so so many questions but never once did they make us feel like we were a burden or that we were being silly. They kept us up to date and were very quick to respond. They kept our regular vets updated. They took such good care of my dog and there are no amount of words in the world that I can say to thank them enough for the quality of care, love and support that he received.
