Vets for Pets - Luton is a veterinary practice that is known for its friendly and caring staff, who genuinely seem to love animals. Many clients have praised the excellent customer service they received, highlighting the quick responses to appointment bookings and the welcoming atmosphere upon arrival.

  • Efficient handling of appointments and follow-ups.
  • A knowledgeable staff that provides thorough explanations and support regarding pet care and treatments.

Negative experience: The clinical staff at this practice have always been kind and caring, which makes this experience difficult to write. Around a week after collecting my pet Felix’s ashes, I was contacted regarding an outstanding balance that I had not been made aware of at the time of collection. On the same day I received three calls regarding payment. During each call, I clearly explained that I did not have the funds immediately but would be able to pay the following week. Despite this being communicated multiple times, I was later spoken to by the practice manager, Christine, in a confrontational and unempathetic manner. I was accused of being rude, and the call was terminated. This was extremely distressing given the circumstances. I raised a formal complaint and the practice owner intervened, acknowledged that normal procedures for communicating about outstanding balances had not been followed, and accepted payment at a later date. While I appreciate that intervention, I was concerned to see reviews from previous years describing very similar issues, including owner involvement, yet the same situation has occurred again. I am sharing this experience so other clients are aware that billing matters may be pursued with repeated pressure and without sufficient empathy or consideration.

Negative experience: Yearly checkup I saw a man this time after 4 years of seeing the lady in the end room who has always been lovely. Not sure on his name but looked like the head vet. I was there for an hour, delayed for 40 mins before having the appointment. I didn't particularly like the way he rushed and dealt with the appointment. Didnt ask any questions like i normally get asked. It was straight on to the injections. Weight and checked her over quickly. My cat had a couple of clumps of fur which normally the lady just clips off in (2 seconds) due to the professional clippers used. I asked him if he could do this after the yearly injections. Response was "oh no, I don't have time for things like that, maybe someone else can, just ask reception" We proceed with the rest of the checkup put the cat back in and go out, ask reception and pay while we wait. Another lady asked me to go in the middle room, discuss that my cat has some matted fur and she responds with that will be £75. I had just paid nearly £100 for her Yearly checkup and prescription and the man who saw my cat could not be bothered to help me whilst she was out of the carrier having her yearly check up! but now you are quite happy for me to wait further, and charge me another £75 to get rid of a couple clumps of fur. You are having a laugh!!!! Not impressed at all! I will buy a decent clipper for that and do it myself! There is always one person and their attitude which lets the company down and today this was him!

Thank your time today discussing your concerns and I am sorry you were delayed in being seen and this resulted in us trying to get the nursing team to help with the clipping required. The charges you quote are not correct for the procedure you needed and I am sorry I did not communicate this to the nursing team at the time so they could have completed the task without any further expense which was the intention. We appreciate your feedback to help us and thank you for your patience in waiting whilst we were dealing with a poorly pet. If you would like to discuss this further our Customer Care Manager Christine Mortier will be able to help you.

Negative experience: This review IS NOT for the absolutely lovely ladies who work there. They are incredible, particularly Tina & Jessica. This review is for Mark. Each experience we’ve had with Mark has been nothing short of disappointing. To give a bit of advice, please learn how to speak to your customers in a much better way and to not be frightened or flinch at animals in your care and show them a bit of understanding and kindness. We were with this vet clinic for a while and decided to move our cats to Australia. I want to focus on our last visit there which was just a routine parasite treatment for their travel requirements. I warned that one of my cats can be a little feisty when she’s scared. After I mentioned that he proceeded to bring a nurse in with huge mittens and throw a towel over her before she even hissed or showed any signs of her feisty side. She was calm up to this point. I sent over requirements of this treatment weeks prior following our advice from the travel agency and at no point did mark read this as he proceeded to try and get a tablet into my frightened animal. To then turn around, very insensitively and say “you know there’s a big possibility this won’t happen today”. I want to reiterate we were in the process of moving to Australia, their flights booked, our flights booked to then say this so bluntly would mean they would have to be left behind. Luckily the incredible nurses were on hand to help come up with other solutions. It was crazy to me that he tried the difficult route without trying to crush the tablet into food. Our 2nd very friendly cat was the next attempt. He still hadnt attempted to stroke or show any kindness towards our animals still at this stage. She flinched as they tried the tablet, he jumped back and said “yes we have 2 difficult cats”. After about an hour of trying different methods he decided to read the instructions from our travel agency and realised he could do this all with spot on treatments. All of this for something which could have been a spot on the whole time. This all ended up with two very stressed animals before their stressful flight and was completely avoidable. I know my situation is unique and not everyone is flying their cats aboard however, as a vet you have a duty of care to animals that come into your clinic. The only affection and care my animals got were from the nurses. Not only did the incredible nurses comfort them on the day but also me, after hearing that without so much of an attempt he might not of done it. I experienced this same appointment again at the travel agency with their vet and the difference was night and day. This vet had spot on ready, got down to their level, gave them some affection and no flinches at all, 2 very comfortable cats. Goes to show how important a kind and caring vet can be towards scared animals. Our kitties got a lovely cuddle from Tina and the other amazing ladies and they are making their way down to Australia. I genuinely believe they wouldn’t be coming with us if it wasn’t for them and I’m so sorry Marks behaviour has spoiled this review.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review and post the feedback publicly. I am pleased that your cats travelled safely and the wormer could indeed be administered via a spot on alternative as I am sure you will appreciate the oral route was indeed not a viable option and an alternative was indeed provided. I am sorry to hear you felt my approach was not sympathetic to your circumstances and for that I apologise unreservedly. Thank you for highlighting what a wonderful support team we have here with the nurses and Tina our customer care manager. They indeed have an incredible knack for dealing with all our animals, even the more tricky ones.
Kind regards,
Mark Antcliffe

Fantastic experience: Good vets, with sensible advice. Helpful reception staff. Easier to get a vets appointment than doctor's! Only problem is cost, £56 for vet consultation.

Fantastic experience: Had a very pleasant visit to Vets4Pets today. My dog is usually quite nervous, but the lady who treated her was so gentle and reassuring that she quickly became calm. It was lovely to see her so relaxed! The care and attention given were truly appreciated. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a patient and compassionate vet.

Myki Onires Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Can't seem to advise me on how to get a lame rescue dog to the vets for emergency treatment. Why does vets4pets exist if they can't even bother !?! Speaking to them has left me feeling quite suicidal.

Caitlin Murphy Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Avoid at all cost !! Awful experience. Exceptionally unwelcome and unpleasant Called in as our paps throwing up blood , to be told unless emergency, to wait till next week . Managed to book in after debating on the phone for time . Seen by the owner in person apparently Marc Cantcliff , remember the name ! So weird and unhelpful.. Tried to convince us to put him over night at some nearby night vet at astronomical cost , yeah right Told that i dont trust leaving my baby over night with strangers, he got so upset and refused us as customers, saying is not comfortable with us anymore What a joke of vet , useless! Kept talking about something he read in his animal anatomy book like it was a lecture , without saying much . Just tell us the possible cause and treatment already . Kept persuading to put him overnight elsewhere, not to mention the price! What a joke you re Hope not to see you again

Negative experience: So I had posted my review on the wrong vets as it had the same name, In a nutshell I’m gobsmacked at the lack of care and I’m understanding from this vet practice…I’m upset and disappointed how we can become so careless for our pets in need, I’m just glad I have figured a natural remedy that don’t even come close to the price they charge… (info in pictures) And to any vet that is new or learning… I’d strongly go to a professional vets like David Norman’s or Icknield veterinary… because these guys really make it up as they go along.

Samanta Nguyen Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I have no idea how this vet surgery has almost 5 stars, I would give 0 if I could. If you think your pet is in danger and may die and you need immediate help, don't waste your time just go somewhere else. To visit the vet, you must first book an appointment with vets4pets. If you need urgent help and you haven't made an appointment, no one cares. The surgery was empty, the receptionist didn't care to even look at our pet, the vet didn't even come out of the room to see what was wrong with our pet, even after the receptionist explained the situation. The receptionist very slow person that was really irritating all she cared about was register us in, it was another waste of time. Unfortunately our pet has died and we are very disappointed and angry.

Fantastic experience: I recently took my kitten to Vets for Pets for his vaccination and flea/worm treatment, and I couldn't be more impressed with the service I received. From the moment I walked in, Sonya, the vet, was warm and welcoming, making sure to comfort and calm my kitten (and me!) as we went through the process. The vaccination was quick and efficient, and Sonya explained everything clearly to me, making sure I understood what was happening and what to expect going forward. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks Sonya!

Negative experience: What a bunch of money grabbers! It seems like every month they increase their prices & they won't accept any form of payment plan. I assume if your pet is sick & needs very expensive treatment, they would be more than happy to see your treatable animal be put to sleep rather than offer a payment plan. I enquired about my cat being neutered as she's struggling with her heat cycles & they refused to help her unless I had the entire bill amount ready. It used to be that people went into the veterinary care career because they cared about animals. Now they only seem to care about how much of your money they can line their own pockets with! They enticed me into purchasing the Complete Care Plan for my cat. I had to cancel it because I was being forced into a rent increase on my home & panicked about affording everything. At no point did they explain to me that I could NEVER have access to this plan again once cancelled! Also, during the plan, I never received a single flea or worm treatment. They have since said that I was expected to know to ask about this, even though I've told them that I am neurodivergent & have issues with such things & need stuff fully explained to me & often written down. I had an appointment booked in recently & was left in the waiting room until about an hour after my booked appointment time, while staff walked out leaving a full waiting room. Take your pets somewhere where the staff care about animals, not where their only objective is to fleece people to the maximum.

Shara Ahmed Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Had an emergency consultation for my cat with a vet at Vets4pets. This vet however, refused to touch my cat to examine her in case she scratches him (notes suggested she scratched a nurse whilst clipping her nails). The vet then prescribed medication for high temperature and pain, despite not actually doing any form of examination because, “if she is in pain or if has a temperature this medicine will help” was his expert opinion. Absolutely ridiculous!

Fantastic experience: Love the staff. Very helpful. Don’t be put off if you’ve had bad experiences at other vets for pets as they are all different. This is the best we’ve experienced.

Negative experience: The ladies there are absolutely lovely and have always made sure me and my pets have been looked after, which is a shame I have to leave this review. There is a clear managerial problem at this practice. Following an innocent error re. a consultation I was not informed I had to pay for 5 months ago, I received a rude phone call from the vet manager, Christine. She was condescending, shouting at me relentlessly to the point I had to terminate the call. She implied that I was dishonest and had not paid intentionally, despite the array of confusion communicated from staff about the issue and the details of my plan now 5 months later. When I escalated Christine’s behaviour to a formal complaint, I was sent an email from Mark Antcliffe, who essentially condoned this awful behaviour. He claimed that customers are responsible for printing out plan details (when it isn’t hard to attach a pdf to an email in 2023, instead of a link to a website that can expire once you decide you want to change the plan). A very classist and ableist response. Not once did I receive an apology or accountability for Christine’s behaviour. money comes above customer service for the managers of this practice so I can no longer support a business like this. I’m not spending my hard earned money for rude people to abuse me over the phone. Super disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to everyone on the crew; you are all really polite and professional. Moss My cat was neutered yesterday, and I am nervous because it is his first vet visit. Jassica Patel (Jass) simply broke the ice and gave her the confidence to leave him with her, and those simple words made my day, which I greatly appreciate. I can go to work peacefully , come home, and pick him up with ease. I am pleased to observe how the pets are treated in the same manner as we do at home. Moss is recuperating well, and I see no signs of stress in him, so I'm delighted I chose your Luton branch. Again, thank you to the entire staff and Jass. I am confident that you will share your love and care with all of the pets you handle, and I wish you the best of luck in your career.

Fantastic experience: Nothing but great things to say about this vet practice. Had total of 4 pets over years with them and had nothing but positive experiences

Vikki Cairney Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. They make a fuss of your pets and make you feel welcome and are very supportive. They are very honest about what you can buy and offer a prescription for drugs or buy from them.

Donna Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Lovely vets with very kind and caring staff. When our cat went missing (she was having seizures) we were so worried about her. She was found further up our street in someone's garden and when the lady who found her took her to the vets they rang me straight away as they recognised the cat and knew I was desperately searching for her which meant we got her home and an extra month of cuddles before she left us forever.

Carol Herd Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Was a very upsetting experience as my 14yr old cat had passed away that morning..called the vets and they were extremely helpful and compassionate...I took my cat there at 2.00pm for him to be cremated.. they were so very kind to me and my granddaughter at our very sad time..and asked if we would like some of his fur and for them to take paw prints for us...at no charge..which was so so kind of them as we were both so upset ...can't fault their caring staff

Fantastic experience: Walked in completely unannounced today, with a dog I’d found on the side of the road - and I am so happy I headed here first! The ladies were so lovely and helpful. Everything was sorted within about 15 minutes, and it really put my mind at ease knowing I’d left him in such good hands. Thank you so much ☺️

Sarah Rochester Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: We have used this vets practice for a long time for our labrador Peppa. They have always been useful, kind and easy to visit. Even more so when our dog was put down, they were really kind and caring, looked after our girl, let her eat chocolate and were considerate to us at a very difficult time. Thank you so much x

Claire Humphreys Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: The staff were exceptionally welcoming and thoughtful. My puppy looked scared and a nurse went out of her way to pet him and gave him a treat. There was also a big dog coming in who was afraid and we were given the option to move to another part of the waiting room so that our puppy wasn’t unnecessarily alarmed. The vet was also excellent, very clear and straightforward. My puppy didn’t even notice the vaccination or microchip being done. A great first visit! Thanks

Fantastic experience: Been a customer for many years & always find the staff very helpful & knowledgeable. I buy special urinary biscuits for one of my cats & they always have it when I need it. I recently had a cat put down with skin cancer - the mum of her two boys Otis & Franklin & Mark was very professional in explaining the procedure & sympathetic. I will continue as a customer.

Positive experience: Firstly, I'd like to thank Lourdes on reception. My furbaby cat Olly had a burst abscess on Monday 6th March and she was very empathic over the phone and got me an appt for the same day. To me, that was a relief because he was distressed and I didnt want any infections occuring. Emily, is new to Olly and vice versa. She's only met him once before, when Olly had an abscess burst on his ear, and that was a little mission at the time, however, she was happy to greet me and Olly. It's great to have friendly smiling vets ready to help. Olly used to be with Daria before she left and they had a good relationship. We tend to call the vet surgeons 'auntie'. Olly understands this word amongst others and it just helps him to understand who he's with. He's not one for different smells, surroundings, animals he doesn't know and younger children. The experience from last time helped Emily and prob the nurses behind the scenes to help him and he wasn't overally vocal this time. He's back in next Tuesday 14th March with Louisa for his health check and booster vax. Emily said that she'll be about too as I'm not sure if she's met Olly in the same way Emily has... Haha. Amy booked in the wrong time for us and thankfully Lourdes, again stepped up and ensured that the right appt time was booked in and she told me that it would be Louisa that would look after Olly. Overall, it's been easy to get him in, looked at and it just makes me and Olly feel less stressed. Thank you! (King Master) Olly's mum

Fantastic experience: Great vets, and so supportive. I sadly had to make the heartbreaking decision to have my little man PTS last year and they were so amazing through the entire process. I even received a condolences card from all the team. Would never go to another vets now, and know my remaining fur babies are in good hands.

Negative experience: You could not wish for a poorer experience, they hold your animal to ransom , if you haven't the funds to pay ,they don't want to know, caring profession .....I think not !!!!!! The receptionists were lovely though ......

Jim Greening Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Greater by receptionist on arrival then by vet then explained why I was therewith my pet. The vet examend her ears and took samples for testing and explained the treatment and how to do it.got her medication and booked her in for follow up visit as requested.

Fantastic experience: I was extremely anxious due to a bad experience with a previous vet, when I came to Vets4Pets Luton I was greeted with smiling faces. The veterinarian Emily was so calming and extremely helpful, ensuring I knew and understood the procedures and problems with my cat. The nurse Brooke ensured that my cat was calm and nurtured! Both these ladies are incredible! Thank you :)

Joanne Griffin Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Jessica (vet) was extremely friendly, caring and knowledgeable. Made the experience for myself and my puppy a pleasure.

Heena Kapdi Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Had a disastrous reception service with least empathy. However the vet - Emily was amazing and patient with my questions. Since it was our 1st appointment after we switched from Gipsy Lane to Hitchin Road, I will see how the next couple visits go before we think of other alternatives.

Alison Gibbs Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: A very good service. Receptionist was especially helpful and friendly. I felt the vet cared about my dog and was helpful with advice

Sarah Watts Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: This practice is worst practice in Luton.. the stuff are unwilling to help with situations to do with my animals.. stuff have a lied back approach they don’t care about the animals they care about the money.. I will not be taken any of my animals there again my dog is now passed

Kelly Benson Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: If I could give this practice 0stars I would I took my cat there 5/10/22 She had to be sedated in order to take blood tests Paws unfortunately died However the vet told me the exact time of death was 7.10 pm I was called at 7.08 to come in as I waited in my car to be told she had passed But apparently she was given Adeline at 7.08 and 7.09 However mark Antcliffe thinks this is expectable as vets don’t wear watches and the clock in the surgery is a cheap and therefore doesn’t keep good time Apparently they have changed the battery now!!! So all you poor people who mourn your pet thinking it died at a exact time , think again A poor practice I’ve read other’s comments and say they just care about the money Which brings me to my next point of running into the car park while I sat there waiting on paws wanting half of the £360 bill

Rachel Horn Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Good service, we feel the staff care for the animal. Everything is explained before hand including the cost. Poppy is our beloved cat and we trust you with her.

Sarah BH Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: It's a great vets! The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. I never feel like I'm being rushed in appointments and they have a very "there's no such thing as a stupid question" attitude which I really appreciate. The car park is also a plus, makes things a lot easier!

Negative experience: Never trust your animals in their care, please! Such horrible handling and treatment of animals, plus very discriminative and judgemental of people. I brought my cat in for a consultation 2 months ago and he was barely checked,as the vet was flinching away from him as if he was afraid of him! (He is a timid cat who doesn't even fight), and a "small animal professional". I was then told he was a "perfectly healthy cat" and there's nothing to worry about, whilst implying I was being paranoid... since then I have been to other vets and found out he has kidney failure and may not make it, I am heart broken, as my boy wouldn't be suffering now if they had done their job properly. Such rude people, with no care or compassion for patient or client, the only priority is money. Overall I would recommend literally anywhere else other than this franchise to care for your animals, they lack empathy, patience, understanding and experience... Do not trust your pet's lives in their incapable hands. I am appalled. If I could leave 0 stars I would. *edit* My baby passed away/ had to be put down due to this vets negligence, he could have saved him if he had diagnosed him then and helped, but instead failed at their job or lied . Disgraced and heartbroken.

Fantastic experience: A very friendly and helpful team that did not seem to worry about time scale as long as everyone was happy and everything was done correctly, it’s nice to see for a change. People who care in their jobs

Fantastic experience: It was my first visit to the vets surgery. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My cat is a very anxious one but she quickly calmed down, the vet gave me all the info I needed and was very gentle with her. Parking is available.

Fantastic experience: The vet was very professional in calming my very nervous dog before examining him and giving him his injections. It was the best visit we have had to Vets4Pets because of how the vet approached my dog

Fantastic experience: The vet was extremely helpful and friendly and answered some of my concerns well. Although there for vaccinations, I was concerned for one of my dogs and she thoroughly checked him over and discussed options and explained what to expect going forwards

Fantastic experience: The staff are always friendly from the reception team to the nurses to the vets. The receptionist explained the nurse was running a bit late and apologised which was fine with me. The nurse apologised for running late...told her that wasn't a problem. She took her time with me and my dog....completed the procedure as quickly and efficiently as possible and fussed my dog as well. Just very good service from a great team

Fantastic experience: Reception was incredibly welcoming and managed to fit me in even though I got the days mixed up and was meant to be in tomorrow. The vet i saw was lovely, very gentle and attentive and explained everything, making sure any questions I had were answered. Fantastic experience: It's the first time I've used a vet's in an emergency. From the minute I called through to end of treatment I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect. The receptionists ( so sorry I don't know your names) were patient and explained the pet insurance process. The vet and veterinary nurse were so supportive and kind to me and my poor dog. Thankyou so much Vet's 4 Pets Hitchin Rd you made a difficult upsetting situation into a comfortable experience.

Vets for Pets - Luton

Good to hear your labrador is responding to a current treatment plan. It would be great to learn what has helped, so please share privately a progress report via email if you get time. If you could email [email protected] and we can review the diagnostic tests and treatment he received from us when we last saw him November 2021. This feedback helps us with a constant mindset of quality improvement whatever the circumstances.
Thanks
Mark Antcliffe

Fantastic experience: I always find the staff to be happy and helpful. My two dogs get a lovely welcome each time we go in. Which is more to weighing the puppy than an actual emergency
