Fantastic experience: Really good experience here, a separate area for cats and dogs. They've really thought about it, sign advised putting cat high up as it makes them less anxious. Put her on the shelf and she started purring immediately. Vet was very friendly and good manner with the cat. Love that you can register online and don't need to make a call. Can also book an appointment online as well which is excellent. Good vets surgery.

Fantastic experience: By far the best vet in Dundee, Barbara was our old vet here and she clearly handed the business to people who truly care and listen to your needs, they have been so kind to my cat who is very nervy From the way the vets and reception staff speak to you, to the way they handle your animal so gently and carefully to keep stress to a minimum, I am also a nervy owner who struggles to trust other humans but I am so glad I put my trust into the team. Alastair and Natalia are a dream team, my cat had to sadly have an operation and they made sure to get her in early in the morning so I could collect her and bring her home early afternoon. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loving my animal and giving her the care she needs.<3

Negative experience: UPDATE: my dogs bladder burst while she was alive only days after writing this review. The shadow they seen on an xray AT THE BEGINNING OF ALL OF THIS is what was blocking her BLADDER. Not a womb issue like I said months prior and every single appointment since. She had to be put to sleep. She was only 4. She was a baby. It’s been made clear to me they don’t care about your animal, they only care about your money. I’d give them 0 stars if I could. The receptionists are great and have consoled me while I sobbed but the people who actually sort out treating your dog, they don’t care. My dog has had a urine infection since the end of Feb/start of March. She got the same antibiotic twice which hasn’t helped. Since she first started showing symptoms I can’t even count how many times I’ve been to the vet to get her help. She’s been sedated multiple times for tests that are completely irrelevant to a urine infection. She’s had ultrasounds, X-rays (for her womb and uterus), blood test and swab for Brucella canis you name it. But no tests for Urine infection. She’s been on almost constant pain relief since end of February. I took her into the vets on 27th or 28th april, absolutely exhausted with the back and forth, I begged the vet to do the most likely test and treatment option as I can’t afford to keep going on like this with no answer. At this point I’d spent little under £1000 on her. My dad also died in March so I’d been back and forward on flights over to Prague. I told him I can afford to do tests etc on my dog but not when I’m not getting any answers and she’s still in pain. He said “sedation and a needle in the bladder to get a urine sample to be able to test for specific antibiotic needs” would be the best course of action and it would cost approx another £400. I said ok because at least we would get the answers! I took her in the following Monday 1st May, signed the paperwork and left her there. He phoned me not long later saying he won’t do the needle in the bladder because he’s just realised Nala is Romanian and he wants to do the Brucella Canis test (which also cost £400). He scared the living daylights out of me saying she will need put to sleep if she did have it. He refused to do the needle in the bladder at the same time, said he will do it once test results come back. I looked up the symptoms after this and it was extremely clear that it was not Brucella. It’s a totally different organ for a start. And only 3 days before deciding to test this, he clearly stated he couldn’t feel her uterus and asked if she was spayed. Yet one of the most common symptoms for Brucella is a really inflamed uterus!! There were no indications for this test to be carried out. Only that she was originally from Romania and has discharge, which the discharge is also commonly a symptom of a urine infection. And surprise surprise, she doesn’t have Brucella. He then wanted her in to do another £400 test because “she has a UTI and it’s unfair to keep her in pain”. Like it was MY FAULT!! I’m absolutely livid and disgusted that these people can do this to people. Even the vet who has been dealing with her can understand why I think they only care about money. Avoid like the plague if you want someone to actually treat and care for your pet.

Fantastic experience: Reception and the Vets are all lovely, very knowledgable, accommodating and kind. It is obvious they all love animals, in fact, Harris prefers the vets to the groomers. As with all vets, price of treatment is expensive, but Blackness are not the most expensive locally.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time to Blackness Vets and my goodness, they are fantastic. I was absolutely blown away by the customer service of every employee I interacted with. Kind, helpful, and I always felt like they genuinely cared. My animals are both rescues and get very anxious, especially in new environments with new faces, and I was worried they would overly stress due to these factors as well as the added factor of being handled and treated by strangers, but I had nothing to worry about. The staff made my cat and dog (and myself) feel so comfortable, I was gobsmacked. The Blackness Vets team went above and beyond to make sure me and my fur babies were well looked after. What an experience, thank you!

Fantastic experience: Brought our kittens in to make sure they're healthy and everyone in the clinic was doing an amazing job of trying to keep them stressed as little as possible. The pet plan subscription the clinic offers was something I was relatively unsure of, but after such a great service, effective and quick reception and knowledgeable and calming vet, we signed up in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience: My husband bought a ragdoll kitten for me as an anniversary gift this is our first time owning a pet so we wanted the best for him regards veterinary treatment, and after taking Sully to this practice we were amazed at how caring the reception staff and how professional the vet was he gave us lots of information about kittens and what they need regards veterinary treatment plus we won't forget to worm our indoor cat as we will get a reminder, we also felt our Sully would be in safe hands whenever he has a visit to this amazing veterinary clinic. Fantastic experience: A really positive experience at Blackness Vets, Dundee in April 2024. This was my first visit to have my 10 weeks kittens first checks and vaccinations. I joined the Health Club plan at £18.99 per month per kitten for at least the year ahead and I came out with no extra charges and lots more costs included in the plan (it’s not insurance and I took up the offer of 1 month’s free Pet Plan insurance - Pet Plan didn’t take bank details which I liked). The reception area seems really good with separate areas for dogs and cats + nice, cheery instructions on the wall, including putting the cat basket on their high platform to calm them - and it did! Vet was lovely with the kittens, who had a great first experience and didn’t even notice their vaccinations. Receptionists were very friendly and efficient too and clearly have plenty to do. I sound like an advertisement for Blackness (!) but I was really impressed and have had plenty of, mostly, good experience of vets over many years of my beloved pets!

Fantastic experience: I only visited the clinic one for a check-up for my cat. It was likely the best experience I've ever had at a vet, from the moment I called to the moment I left. Receptionists, vet, and spaces were all amazing. Again, one-off experience, but I am very satisfied.

Negative experience: Can't fault our vet Keith he's fantastic and only reason we stay but management and staff are so poor. Lack of care over insurance claims constantly because "the person who deals with insurance isn't in" left hundreds of pounds out of pocket for weeks at a time and when call to ask I'm told "working through a list". Expect money for expensive treatments upfront and then don't bother to make sure claims are entered so that people can get there money back. Hugely disappointed gone massively downhill over last few years

Fantastic experience: During the nite Duggy bcame so sick that I thought I would lose him & the receptionist was so nice when I phoned at 8am & registered with yourselves, then after he settled & we put the appointment back 4hrs he was much better when we brought him in to the surgery but they were so nice, especially the vet as I have recently been unwell so she asked if I wanted to sit down as she checked him over & things like that are so nice customer care as well although this is all about Duggy thank you.

Fantastic experience: Took my cat Pumpkin here and it couldn't have gone better! Coming in for the first time, everyone was friendly and welcoming! There were two separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs which was smart. There were also sign-posted platforms for cat carriers to make them more comfortable!! Leo saw him and treated him so well that despite it being his first vet visit, he didn't even flinch... Not even for his vaccine :) He ran us through everything we needed to know for his vaccines and the works and we were on our way quickly with our healthy boy. Can't reccomend enough, thank you!!

Positive experience: I’ve been at the vets for first time this afternoon with my healthy kitten, after having some meds from here with no instructions, applying two drops to its mouth he started shaking and foaming on the mouth. When I called stress about it they calmly wanted to charge me even more for checking him. They asked me to come in with some extra cost and just in case he got worse I toke him back. They charge me for weighting him again? I’ve paid it but got a very cold feeling at this new vet. Imagine is really an emergency.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely friendly and caring loving veterinarians have the pet plan and service is extremely extraordinary We have a very scared anxious dog and everytime she visits there super helpful snd great guidance. I got my white German wolf looking shepherd day before lockdown so she wasn't socialised at all that led to some behaviour issues and she was a beaten pup and the runt of the litter. They guy we got from has went off the radar but this place has done us wonders for advice and help. Thank you from Skye

Fantastic experience: Excellent care, my puppy had kennel cough and had called earlier for advice and was now calling as I felt he was lethargic. Vet agreed to see him that evening. Listened to everything I had to say and was very reassuring very caring for my puppy. I feel they are very Pet orientated and truly care for your animal.

Positive experience: Compassion and competence. No lectures or being talked down to here. The administration staff are wholly unorganized and don’t communicate well with each other however. So expect top-notch veterinary care, and a nightmare of a time dealing with administration.
