Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic people. Ted was extremely sick and so close to the end, but they helped in every aspect. They were such helpful and friendly people, and they saved his life. I cannot thank them enough. I wasn’t ready for the loss and honestly don’t know what I would have done, but they pulled out all the stops. Now my dog is in recovery, and I feel comfortable knowing they have given him the best chance. Thanks to all the team and everyone involved.

Fantastic experience: Moved into the area and needed a new vet. Easy to get to and bus stop right outside for people who need to use public transport. The receptionists gave a warm welcome. Nice sitting area for cats. No surprise with bill it was very reasonable. Everything was explained prior to consultation. Joanne Patience Veterinary Surgeon was great with my cat and I felt really assured Really nice experience. There is also a pet plan available which is very reasonable.

Positive experience: A good general small animal practice. Appears to have become part of a larger group so their own pet plan has changed (probably a bit less for a bit more cost, unless you pay a lot more than before) but they have some very experienced vets.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars for everyone at inshes veterinary surgery! Yesterday I suspected my little dog P had pyometra and got an appointment immediately, I left her for tests to confirm and before id even left the carpark I received a phone call that the ultrasound was complete and she had confirmed pyometra - and they scheduled her surgery immediately. I was kept informed of costs, the process and how she was. I am so so grateful to everyone who helped my little dog, I am sorry do not have the name of the individuals who dealt with me and my dog but thank you so much! My dogs wound looks absolutely incredible, so tiny and neat, you would never guess she had such a major surgery! Thank you to everyone involved in my dogs care ❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: I'm just getting round to leaving this review as things have been hectic - but I can't praise the staff at Inshes vet enough, especially the absolute star of a receptionist that helped us (i wish that I'd got her name but everything was such a whirlwind). My mum was recently rushed to Raigmore ICU by air ambulance from 4 hours away and in a panic to get everything organised and travel down to be with her, my poor dad forgot the dogs medication. I rang Inshes to try to organise an emergency prescription and they could not have been more helpful. There was a bit of delay due to disorganisation on the part of our own vet (who messed us about a fair bit) but the staff at Inshes chased this up for us, and really couldn't have been more helpful and everything on their part was done so promptly When we were delayed in collecting the meds I didn't think we'd make it before closing and the receptionist could not have been more kind, understanding and helpful. I ended up being able to collect it out of hours, but the receptionist actually offered to bring it to the hospital for me. I could have honestly wept at the kindness we received from a complete stranger when we were going through absolute hell with my mum. The staff at Inshes did everything they could to make things a wee bit easier for us. I live in Glasgow and my parents are in Melvich otherwise we would both be changing to Inshes as our vets immediately after this! Inshes, your reception staff are an absolute credit to you. Thank you so much for helping us. My mum is now out of ICU, in a regular ward and recovering well, and Zak is very grateful to you for keeping him healthy!

Zahra Ahmed Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: Absolutely appalled by the treatment we received. My cat had a necessary vaccination appointment, which I had discussed in detail ahead of time. Due to unavoidable circumstances, only my mum could take the cat in. Despite everything being arranged beforehand, there was an error on the vets part where the wrong vaccine was administered. The staff on the phone later admitted there had been a mistake on their end, yet the manager flat-out refused to accept any responsibility. Worse still, she had the audacity to suggest that my mum wasn’t the best person to bring the cat simply because English isn’t her first language. Completely unacceptable and discriminatory. It is not okay to treat clients, or their family members, with such condescension and rudeness. We have never experienced anything like this at a veterinary practice before, and we won’t be returning. If you value respectful communication and professionalism, I would advise looking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: We have been with the practice for many years with all our pets. Staff all very understanding and accommodating for one of them who is quite antisocial. Always find the vets to be open and transparent about diagnosis, treatment and future which is always appreciated.

Fantastic experience: We needed a vet today, Saturday 05/04/2025, in an emergency whilst on holiday, and Inshes fitted us in and were wonderful! I had spoken with Lesley initially who was so kind and made the appointment, and Joanne was our vet. She was fantastic and completely put our minds at ease. She treated Poppy, our dog, and she was so gentle with her. She also explained every detail to us. The two ladies on reception were SO friendly, and we can't thank the whole team enough!! Carolyn, Nige, and particularly Poppy X

Fantastic experience: Sadly my cat became very unwell at a weekend. I recognized she was very poorly in the morning. She was seen within half an hour of requesting a clinical assessment. Was quickly and gently diagnosed and in a supportive and very gentle way made comfortable in her final minutes. Can't thank the staff enough for her final care and understanding that she was loved and mattered.

Negative experience: Second visit to this vet and the staff are rude, reception area stinks someone needs deodorant. They are very disorganised. I paid for medication that was empty when I got home, controlled drugs being misplace. It took over 3 hours to do simple procedure of clipping my dogs nails under sedation and I was made to wait in the car after they refused to give me my dog back. The look of the place is terrible and it’s worse inside, staff are not professional looking or behaving, reception area is dirty and it’s very chaotic. I will not be returning again with my little dog, was too stressful for her and she was sedated night before her visit, was told the earlier I get her in the quicker she will be done (had her there for 8am) yet she was kept for 3 and a half hours before they clipped her nails. 11.30 am she was eventually done even though I was told the evening beforehand that the sooner I got her to the vet the quicker she would be seen like first in first done, this was denied by staff that morning. I used to use this vet over 20 years ago now and it’s certainly gone downhill. Staff may be animal people but they certainly aren’t people people and should do a course on customer care before they get work with humans. Probably the worst experience I’ve had with a vet and I had only been there twice. Update- my dog was seriously ill after being over sedated for almost 20 hours for a 5 minute nail clip procedure (6pm Monday evening till 11.30am Tuesday morning)I had to phone the emergency vet twice during the night as she was unresponsive, drooling and floppy and was told that she had been given two sedation medication when she only needed one. Took my little dog 3 days to come round she’s only 4kgs, like I said in my previous post the medication was misplaced at the vets, I came home with an empty box had to drive back immediately to collect it, they ‘found’ the missing medication lying around through the back and I was told ‘oops my mistake I misplaced it’. So it could have been any medication and my dog was seriously ill afterwards. Please stay away from this place.

Fantastic experience: Needed a short notice appointment as our elderly terrier became unwell on holiday. They advised us to contact our vets so her history could be forwarded and when we arrived (same day appointment) they were able to access her history and give us options for treatment. Really happy with the time she took to listen and the range of options we were given.

Negative experience: Shocking experience. My dog was diagnosed with cancer so I had to do the right thing for him. Vet said she would let me know once she put him to sleep, still waiting. Waited a week for his ashes and no contact so I phoned on the Monday to be told he would be back on the Wednesday. Again nothing so I phoned on the Thursday to be told he only left their practice the day he was supposed to be back and it would be the following week, receptionist said she would get vet to call me next day. Still waiting. Bad enough losing our beloved pet but to be lied to that he was away for cremation when he was still in their practice is appalling.

Clark Walls Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I was here with family and friends when they had to put their cat to sleep. A very sad time for all but the staff were so comforting, sympathetic and professional.

Karen Ligertwood Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Sadly we had our dog put to sleep in February, we had to wait nearly 4 weeks for her ashes to be returned only to discover she wasn't cremated until 3 weeks after her death! When I asked for an explanation, I was told payment should have been made before hand which we were not informed of. When we received the ashes, they came in what looks like a freezer bag! 5 days after her death our other dog had to be euthanized from cancer, we used Conavets who's service was second to none. We received her ashes 9 days later presented in a beautiful woodland tube with her name engraved on a brass name plate and at a third of the price Inshes have charged us! Exploitation at it's best, compassion and empathy at its worst!

Brian Beacom Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: First visit with our new puppy, and first impressions were excellent. Changed vets following disappointing service from another practice with our old dog. Hopefully the enthusiasm and friendly staff experienced last week will continue in the future.

Boyd Crombie Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great vet unfortunately we have had to use it for the reason pet owners don’t want to use it we lost our dog recently and we are losing another family pet today but that’s why we have vets to help us make the awful decisions for our pets

SomethingWhimsy Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: "Animality." Every single vet and receptionist gave compassion and expert advice, above and beyond what's expected ❤️ Dear reader, if you don't know about ferrets, let me take this time to shed some light. Firstly, ferrets are considered exotic pets. Not every vet has even seen a ferret but will say they are happy to operate on one! We therefore travelled 113 miles to Inshes Vet to give the ferrets expert care. Every spring jills (female ferrets) come into season. Jills can die unless taken out of season. There are several ways to do this. For years, it has been possible to give the jills a quick and easy hormone injection commonly referred to as the 'jill jab'. Unfortunately, for reasons I don't know, this is being discontinued. After extensive research, the only viable option for my jills' living arrangements is spaying. My jills are 3 and 8 years old this summer, 2024. Needless to say, it was a huge risk putting an older animal, especially one so small, under anaesthetic. My oldest, her heart stopped. But due to the expert vets, they saved her. And now she's home, safe, comfy, and making a full recovery. I can't express how over joyed, relieved, and grateful I am. Whole heartedly appreciate everything this veterinary has done for my girls and me!

kathleen k Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Terrible! My dog went for a spay 4 years ago and it has just been discovered that this vet has tied off her kidney by mistake during this routine procedure. She only has one functioning kidney now. They have no clue what they're doing. DO NOT take your animals here.

Always very helpful with my rabbits & guinea pigs. I always get fitted in & they try to accommodate me for appointments especially if it’s urgent. Have also used out of hours & been great. Would recommend for small animals thank you

Negative experience: Unfortunately I find myself to describe this practice as poorly prepared in international matters, pet passports to be precise, and quite happy to bend the rules to cover their lack of knowledge. Before describing what happened I'd like to clarify: I am accountable, as a pet owner, for knowing the new post Brexit rules on pet travels to and from the EU. However my knowledge got left behind along with my dog's rabies vaccine and a week before leaving the country I realised it had expired. When I phoned the practice I explained the matter in details and as complicated as it sounded I got even transferred to a second receptionist who clearly stated the vaccine could be administered but the dog was not going to be able to leave the country. I booked my appointment anyway and when I went the vet on shift clearly said it was illegal to backdate the vaccine hence the doggie had to stay in the UK for the Christmas break. While preparing the vaccine dose the vet explains she is not allowed to sign the pet's passport so I need to collect it within the next 24 hours when one of her colleagues, qualified to do so, is going to be at the clinic and in saying that the vaccine is administered and the sticker is placed on the passport's page. My distress is beyond belief: I explain to the kind vet that the passport can not be held indefinitely for the day and that when I booked the appointment I was very clear on what I had to do so if she was not qualified to sign my dog's passport at least to have someone doing it in a reasonable time frame. Sure enough less than two hours later I get a phone call from a male vet saying the passport can not be signed because it is a European Passport and since Britain left the EU it is unlawful to sign a EU passport. Now... a part from my complete dismay all I could think of was the sticker already applied on the passport and I raised the issue knowing perfectly well the vet probably had the passport in his hands. The voice over the phone candidly says "I can remove it from the passport", that seems the best option he can come up with which makes me think I must be on a candid camera show. "I don't think that is allowed, it is like a visa label in a person's passport, it can not be removed otherwise the passport could be considered tampered with" I say. The vet minimises my comment (yet it is actually the truth as I checked afterward) and he comes up with the best options of all: "you can take the passport with you on holiday and have it fixed in Europe". This last marvellous idea really made me question the whole situation and I reversed the scenario to him asking if he would sign a British pet passport (which are no longer valid in Europe anyway) with a sticker of a vaccination done in a European country, his answer was NO. "Well then how am I supposed to fix it in Europe?"I asked. The last proper offer was to fill out a British Health Certificate which was in actual fact the only document my dog should have had done in the first place to cross the border! I repeat myself I am responsible for knowing what the law is post Brexit for my dog to travel but I don't charge £74 for my ignorance without even personally apologise when back to the practice to collect the passport. Needless to say both dog and cat will have a new vet.

Fantastic experience: After a follow up visit with a vet at our usual practice who barely looked at our dog (clearly in distress with his breathing), who seemed annoyed if I asked questions and thought it was ok to wait a week to carry out tests, we decided to register with Inshes Vet Centre. It was a quick and easy process and we were seen the same day. We had no idea if Inshes would be any different so it was a huge relief to be welcomed by friendly receptionists and to have an in depth consultation with Isobel who could see our dog needed immediate help. She organised for testing to be done straight away and explained the costs. Jamie called after an hour or so to explain his lungs had collapsed and what could be done to help him at least as a temporary measure. Our dog came home drowsy but finally able to breathe easy and for that, we are so grateful. It's touch and go at this stage so he needs to be monitored but we are thankful to at least now be with vets who we feel will do their best for him and we would highly recommend them.

Negative experience: Went to Inshed veterinary practice on the 01 August 2023 to see if they could scan a missing young Bengal cat that we found to see if they could scan for a microchip to find the owner and help to return. I was told it wasn't company policy to scan for a microchip for a missing cat. I came out and cried, as a cat owner myself, I'd hope any vet would assist in helping to scan a missing cat and reunite it with their owner. We took the 6 month old cat to Eastgate vets and they scanned the cat in seconds and took the time to phone the microchip company and subsequently they managed to reunite the wee cat to it's rightful owner.

Negative experience: Put newborn pups in with exhausted and sick mother and never even watched them for at least long enough to let one suffocate. Called us on the phone with zero compassion and said 'your puppy died'. I asked how as it was doing fine with hand feeding and she agreed that on the balance of probably its suffocated. Shocking level of service. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: I personally had little interaction with this practice, but they cared for my cat Nicky after he was killed in a car accident, and they were understanding and compassionate towards my ex-partner who was caring for him alone while I was in Edinburgh. They gave us two sets of paw prints, two small bottles with his fur in them and refused to take money for keeping him overnight. When i arrived the next day to take him to be cremated with my ex-partner, the person who took Nicky out to us was compassionate and caring. The person who handed Nicky over to me even took the time to remind me that he had been in cold storage overnight and 'would not feel quite like you remember him.' They also gave us a personalised card with seeds in it to scatter in his memory. Thank you for being so caring.

Negative experience: Book an appointment weeks ago get a confirmation saying 5:30 through email so forget about it until the date as you do. Then get a text the night before saying a different time 30 mins before we had booked, there was no other confirmation or attempt to contact me to advise me of this change in time until the night before. Was our first time trying to use this vets and definitely will not be returning terrible service was told on the phone that the “online booking service is a different system so you don’t get a confirmation of change” just an excuse from the receptionist, you can’t confirm a time then change it on your system and expect me to be checking it constantly just in case it changes lol.

Fantastic experience: Having a nervous rescue and having many bad previous experience with other vet, we turned up a bit stressed. Zero hassle or drama. Front of the house is extremely nice (ladies, Miles saying thank you for the biscuit). We got Jamie as our new vet. All what I can say, he is amazing. Not only managed to vaccinate our super anxious dog without trouble, at the end he made friend with him. Also, he listened and answered patiently my millions questions. We are very happy. Thank you very much Inshes Vet Team
