Crown Vets Argyle Street: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Caring and compassionate group of professionals - from the reception staff through the vets. I highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Very informative visit, the vet explained everything and answered all my questions. Reception staff where friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Really pleased with Crown Vets at Argyle Street. We were on holiday nearby and our dog suddenly couldn't use his back legs properly and was falling over. We got an appointment two hours later at Crown Vets and they thoroughly checked him over, explained what they thought the cause was and prescribed some medicine then suggested how to follow up with our own vets when we got home. They shared the information with our home vet and when we got home our vet agreed with the diagnosis and next steps. They even called back after booking the appointment to confirm we were OK with the very reasonably £16 charge for temporary registration too. Couldn't have provided a better service.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and compassionate staff and they fixed my wee boy
Fantastic experience: Amazing place
Thank you for the pawsitive review!
Positive experience: Great doctors. Looked great after my cat Puzzle. Always got a great advice for cat care.
Fantastic experience: Have been using Crown Vets for 48 years. Would not use anyone else.
Fantastic experience: The care my dog received at Crown Vets yesterday was excellent The service was amazing very professional and caring vet.She looked after my dog so well and explained all the options available regarding his treatment.Would highly recommend this practice.
Fantastic experience: Great service by staff who really care.
Fantastic experience: Despite only being a visitor to the area we had great and speedy service with our young collie Jeanie. After a GA we were able to continue our holiday in only 2 hours. Thankyou Mat
Fantastic experience: Great place, staff is very nice and good with our cats
Positive experience: They do not accept kennel club insurance because they don’t pay out quick enough to them so you’ve got to pay cash when your dogs insured and then claim it back !!
Fantastic experience: When I went in to see my cat after a hectic week at work (due to being unable to drop him off and pick him up, my partner handled it all as I was busy) the staff were super accommodating, it wasn't something they normally do but I was worried about my cat and the receptionists were lovely, genuinely amazing staff. They brought him out let me see him, talked me through his procedure, his healing and next steps and we're incredibly kind. Cannot recommend it enough.
Fantastic experience: Very very sad had to have our poor poor old Lab pts, it was an emergency appointment but the Vet and staff were amazing. The compassion was second to none and they were just all so kind and understanding. Best Vets I've ever been to even under the sad unexpected circumstances. Highly recommend this practice
Fantastic experience: Crown Vets, Inverness Very impressed with the vet Douglas, just a general check up for my toy poodle Millie, he was fabulous and when next at the vets will be asking for an appointment with him
Fantastic experience: I’ve sadly lost 2 pets recently and the staff and vets were amazing for the frequent visits in the months leading up. Always flexible and compassionate. I have one live (and super lively!) cat left and they are great with her too. Appointments are readily available and parking spaces. It’s a great practice thank You ⬛
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and service. The staff are wonderful, you can tell they love animals
Fantastic experience: Crown Vets Inverness provides excellent veterinary care with a compassionate and professional team. Their 24/7 emergency service ensures pets receive immediate attention when needed. With three branches, they offer a range of services, including advanced diagnostics and surgeries. Separate cat and dog areas help reduce stress for pets. We are part of their Pet Health Plan, which has been a great way to manage routine care at a fixed cost, covering things like vaccinations, flea treatments, and check-ups. It’s a good value option for regular pet care. However, one thing to be mindful of is that when your pet is ill, they may recommend multiple expensive treatments and medications, some of which may not always be necessary. While their vets are knowledgeable and caring, it’s worth asking questions and considering whether all suggested treatments are essential for your pet’s condition. Overall, Crown Vets is a reliable and professional practice, and we’ve had a mostly positive experience with them. Their staff are friendly, and their facilities are well-equipped, making them a solid choice for pet owners in Inverness.
Negative experience: Our family is devastated and furious after the horrific experience we endured at Crown Vets with our precious 11-month-old Maine Coon kitten, Nala. What should have been a place of care and support became a nightmare of outrageous costs, vague answers, and heartless profiteering. If you cherish your pets, I beg you to avoid Crown Vets at all costs and seek out independent vets instead. It all started on a Sunday afternoon when we couldn’t find Nala. After searching, we found her cowering in a downstairs room next to our garage, where my partner Aga and I had been cleaning earlier. She bolted upstairs and hid under a bed, clearly distressed and unlike herself. When we coaxed her out, we saw blood on her beautiful long fur and tail. She was breathing rapidly and seemed in pain. We settled her into her bed with food and water, and she stayed close to us on the sofa that evening, but it was obvious something was terribly wrong. Since we had a Pet Plan Plus with Crown Vets, we contacted their out-of-hours service and secured an 8:15 a.m. appointment for Monday. That night, Aga checked on her and couldn’t find her again. We eventually located her hiding behind our bedroom curtains, still in distress. When we gently lifted her onto our bed, she cried out and hissed—likely from fear and pain. We did our best to keep her comfortable in her carrier until the appointment. At Crown Vets, the vet examined Nala and immediately asked if we had insurance. We didn’t—a decision we now regret, but no pet owner should be made to feel like they’re at the mercy of a money-hungry practice because of it. The vet said Nala was guarding her rear left leg and needed X-rays and sedation to find the source of the bleeding. The cost? £544, payable upon collection. Desperate to help her, we agreed and left her in their hands. Hours passed with no word. When Aga finally called for an update, we were hit with devastating news: Nala had suffered a tail pull at the base of her spine, numbing her tail and requiring amputation. Shockingly, Crown Vets admitted they weren’t qualified to perform the surgery and needed a specialist—at an additional £2,000. Why does a so-called professional vet practice lack staff capable of basic feline operations? They also revealed that her bladder was full due to the injury’s location, and she might not be able to urinate on her own. They’d manually expressed it for relief, but said she’d need “monitoring” for 24 hours—or possibly days to weeks—at £1,100 for the first day and £900 per day after that, just to sit in a cage with no guarantees. They couldn’t tell us if the surgery would work or when we’d know anything definitive. It was a black hole of uncertainty and skyrocketing costs. Faced with their incompetence and these astronomical fees, we had to make the agonizing decision to euthanize Nala. To pile on the pain, they charged £156 for the injection and £97 for a group cremation. The entire ordeal felt like a calculated cash grab, exploiting our love for Nala and our desperation to save her. Crown Vets’ prices are beyond outrageous—they’re predatory. They’re clearly price gouging, preying on insurance policies or pet owners’ wallets. Most insurance wouldn’t even cover a week of this “treatment,” let alone the surgery. Without insurance, it’s financially ruinous. This isn’t a vet practice; it’s a profit-driven machine owned by directors tied to thousands of practices across the UK and US, ultimately controlled by private equity firms and Nestlé. They don’t care about your pets—they care about inflating costs for basic services and drugs while you’re at your most vulnerable. Please, spare yourself this heartbreak. Take your pets to local, independent vets who value care over corporate greed. Nala deserved so much better, and your pets do too. Crown Vets will likely respond to this with their generic, robotic “we care about customer service” nonsense—don’t believe it for a second. The only thing they care about is your money. Avoid them at all costs.
Positive experience: The in person service is excellent from all staff however I find the lack of transparency over pricing poor.
Positive experience: Very expensive. If I had better options, I would choose a different vet. They expect me to do at home what I paid for them to do on site. They used to try harder, now I have the impression that money is important to them.
Fantastic experience: Amazing service! Great, friendly and helpful staff!! Thank you
Fantastic experience: Great professional help and service!
Fantastic experience: Collecting my cats insulin they are very nice but like everything else expensive.
Fantastic experience: Bets vet in inverness the staff are excellent
Negative experience: Unfortunately one of my cats had to be put to sleep today, my son had to leave her with me as he was too upset to stay, the vet came in injected her with a sedative and left the room 5 mins later came back in and gave her another injection and told me just to take her home and he left the room again, I had to pick her up of the table and wrap her in her blanket and take her out before being charged £150.50. Reception were lovely but vet was horrible, no care what so ever and just left me to deal with it on my own. I have 5 other cats and I will never take them anywhere near crown vets again, it’s a horrible time when u have to put a loved pet to sleep but with no care from the vet was shocking and disgusting.
Fantastic experience: Very caring, they helped us through a very difficult day. Thank you
Negative experience: Been with them 8 years. Dread going to appointments there. They are too quick to get through appointments and give medication to solve everything. Medication is priced very expensively. Will not believe the owner when medical issues are communicated. Vets are very young. Consultation rooms too small for 3 people. Priority on payments not care. Unfortunately no vet alternative in inverness now. Tried to get registered with Conan vets but they’re full.
Fantastic experience: We have been using crown vets for over 30 years, in the last few years every month with our late dog Ruger. All the staff are very friendly, and very dedicated in their work . I could go on for ever!! But honestly there are not enough words to describe this practice, and would highly recommend them to anyone who has a pet .
Fantastic experience: I've always said, all vets are the same but Crown proves this wrong. Best vet I've used and I've switched over from other practices, travelling out of my way to attend with my doggos.
Fantastic experience: Brilliantly helpful and very caring with the animals.
Fantastic experience: Very thorough in their explanation of the procedure. My dog went for dental treatment, and I was advised in advance of the costs, I was also given the choice of additional extra costs. I couldn't be happier with the care given. I have another dog needing dental treatment, and I have no hesitation going back to Crown Vets. Fantastic service and care.
Negative experience: I don't have a problem with the standard of vet care, they have always been good, especially if you book with one you know and trust. My cat is now old and so I stick with the same practice as they have the records and she has been with them for a long time. However (and it is a big however) I would not sign up with them again if I had a new pet. The costs are now prohibitive. I pay up as have a good pension and savings, but feel for anyone who does not. There is no real itemizing of the costs, which go up as much as 25% between vists for the same proceedure (a blood test) and the receptionists are only just about cvilized (many pets have better maneners). Over the 9 years I have been going to them, the practice has changed enormously; it is now owned by a giant American company and just aims to rake in the money. I feel sorry for the vets who work here, as I am sure they do not get much economic advantage themselves from it. Today the reception and the car park were empty, a sign perhaps that something is seriously wrong.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I’m unable to recommend Crown Vets Argyll Street, they’re probably one of the most awful establishments in Inverness. Their lack of customer service — rude unhelpful reception staff — one particular woman receptionist has a very entitled selfish attitude, and only concerned about payment - rather than your animal. She is a poor representative of this Vets and talks down to you in a condescending manner. Her ability to speak in a friendly way — doesn’t exist — despite her working in an environment that quite often requires compassion. In addition to this, if you have a disability and have to use the PDSA for additional expenses - they downgrade you to seeing a nurse and make you feel like you’re not worthy of seeing a Vet. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a nurse who denied my dog pain relief and told me to give him paracetamol. My dog suffered for some time - and I was told to rebook another expensive appointment just to get pain relief management. I would not make this up - I’ve dealt with many Vets over the years, have had a lot of experience with animals and quite frankly have never dealt with such a terrible establishment. My advice here: this reception staff should be re trained and learn some manners plus how to talk to their customers. You should show more empathy and understanding of Pet owners and how they feel. If this is just a Job to you - then I believe you’re in the wrong position, treating people as if they’re beneath you won’t win you any respect or credibility. This Veterinary Service — has a long way to go before you’ll win any awards for kindness. Be more honest about prices for prescription and I hope you know how my dog suffered due to your incompetence.
Fantastic experience: Always do there very best for your pet they give me so much confidence x
Thank you so much for the positive feedback
Negative experience: I arrived at this vet at 1:30am for an emergency situation with my dog to be greeted by the most unprofessional person I've ever had to deal with. Firstly he kept disappearing on his mobile phone taking calls when my dog was very poorly. He then proceeded to tell me he had never scanned a pregnant dog. He was looking up videos on you tube of how to scan a dog. Shocking. He told me there were no puppies even though there were 2 alive inside my dog. He then told me my dog needed a c section. If he's never scanned a dog then he definitely hasn't performed a section. Not a chance this guy was cutting open my dog. If you are going to have inexperienced vets on out of hours then there needs to be someone more experienced observing. Your putting animals at risk. I took my dog to Inshes where I got the best service. Ive been a client of your practise for 5 years. Never again will I set foot in one of your surgery's
Negative experience: Overall an awful experience. I feel the condition of my pet was not made clear when I took him in (emergency call out; pricing is outrageous and not consistent), the final bill was ridiculously high. When I went to collect the carrier and biscuits (which cost £30) I was told they given them away to charity. J have another pet that could have had them!
Fantastic experience: 1st visit after joing Crown Vets pet plan with Otto. All went very well made to feel so welcome. Lucas the vet was very helpful and thorough. No hesitation giving them 1st class review. Thankyou for looking after us.
Negative experience: Horrendous, didn't give a single care about our dogs health and only about money that I did have available to pay. When booking a much needed appointment for my sick dog I was asked will you have the money to pay then. I've never missed a vet bill and pay over the odds for the best insurance, best food and health care for both our dogs absolutely disheartened and will be removing both pets from their care.
Negative experience: Absolutely hopeless. Wrong prescriptions, dangerously prescribed, then charged way over and above for the pleasure. We've since moved to a local independent vet, and the quality of care is night and day. Crown advised putting our dog to sleep when she was around 24 weeks old. She's now two years old, with no issues. A healthy happy dog. Think twice before using this place. American owned, and only interested in your cash.
Fantastic experience: My 3 cats have been going for years best of service better if you have pet plants insurance

Fantastic experience: Very pleased with the service here, had a very last minute Saturday appointment and the dog wasn’t even registered but they still took her and treated her. Staff were so lovely and helpful! Price was also very reasonable. Wee pup has already perked up after her medication!

Fantastic experience: My first visit was taking our new puppy for her vaccinations. The staff were all amazing! The reception staff were really friendly and gave great information. The vet we saw was great with our puppy and showed a true love for animals. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Seem to be very caring vets. Only been twice with our new puppy but so far so good.
Thank you so much!
Negative experience: I know every vet is expensive but never make u feel like your not doing a good enough job with your pet, quite negative at times.
Fantastic experience: Couldn't have been nicer when our pup ate a wee bit of chocolate. Explained what our options were and let us stay until he'd brought it all back up. They were quite happy cleaning the mess up for us too and gave us a tonne of puppy pads for the journey home. We've been since and oddly our pup loves the place.
Fantastic experience: Take both my dogs here for their annual check ups. Attentive and friendly staff. On site parking as well.
Fantastic experience: We recently had to have our beloved fur baby put to sleep, and Sarah at Crown Vets was absolutely amazing! She was extremely attentive to all our wishes and couldn't have made our extremely distressing and difficult situation any easier. She took everything at our pace, talking us through the whole process in a sincere and caring manner, and her assistant, whose name I can't remember (Sorry!) was equally helpful and supportive.
Fantastic experience: Always very welcoming and polite and Daniel thom is a great vet he really helped us through hard times with our gizmo which means so much to us really recommend this place gizmo loves it there
Fantastic experience: The care here is amazing!!! Cant recommended enough. They really delivery the highest quality of care and support and walk you through everything.
Fantastic experience: Great place, extremely friendly receptionist staff and Dr Samual Smith was extremely professional. Evie loved her visit!

Fantastic experience: Friendly service very happy with all my experience
Fantastic experience: Pets and owners are always dealt with in a caring and welcoming manner.Alison Lawrie-Chalmers is not only a great vet,her lovely calm nature never changes.Top vet,top person.Receptionists are also very pleasant,an all round good experience & that's only from owner perspective.Clanncy also thought Alison lovely.
Fantastic experience: Can't praise the staff enough. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we had to use the vets to have our dog put to sleep. They were amazing, very compassionate and understanding. The whole process was very easy and they gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. Staff were friendly and explained every step of the process to us.

Fantastic experience: Always on hand to help. Never been let down. They are fairly priced and the customer service is great. After having 2 other vets this vets care more about the animals than money. I've been with them for years. Easy parking and have recommended to family and friends.
Fantastic experience: Great service very caring towards my pet dog.Great after care staff very friendly and make you welcome always.
Fantastic experience: Very good service, vets are brilliant and very good with our animals.
Fantastic experience: Had to take my wee dog to the vets emergancy as she jamp broke a nail playing with blood etc as canal side crown vets was shut so wed to go to the other one up crown surgery . We were seen to quickly and the lovely vet took her in had to remove her whole nail of her paw and bandaged her up let her home with meds same night 73pound the bill was . We are part of the pet plan insurence scheme from this company direct. Lovely helpful vets been using this company since I'd a cat over 27yrs now and never really an issue . I'm just glad our fur babys ok.
Negative experience: Vets may be ok... but too expensive and only looking to get as much as possible. Although one vet said that my cat needs to have teeth removed on left side and problem was on the other side ♀️ so idk. I appointment and two teeth removed ,over 500£ gone.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for your kindness at such a difficult time..
Fantastic experience: Had excellent service since starting with them, very friendly and understanding. Look forward to many years of being their customer with Wilson!

Fantastic experience: Great place, pets are treated like family
Thanks, Scott. That’s exactly how we want it to be. Every single pet is important to us.
Fantastic experience: I had an emergency with my dog... They managed to book an appointment on the same day...they called my vet to get all information that they needed. Very professional and efficient.
Great to hear, Karolina. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: We've used Crown vets since 2009. I'm medically trained (on humans) and I recognise that this practice employs consistently superior clinicians. We have found that their vets consistently support us in making the best individualised decisions for the best welfare of our animals I literally wouldn't even consider going anywhere else
Fantastic experience: Have always had excellent care for our dogs
Great to hear, Andrew. Thanks for the review.
Fantastic experience: Very clean premises with onsite parking . Very courteous reception staff and although a lot of the vets here are young they have a tremendous amount of knowledge between them and I have no problem with bringing my choccy lab here or any animal ...i highly recommend them also they have a 24 help line which to me is a must .
Positive experience: Seems to have cornered the market in inverness . Very expensive and not the greatest. Can't afford they will turn you away . Typical American owned . Hope they pay their taxes
Negative experience: Overpriced. Buying medication from them is very expensive. Consultations cheaper elsewhere.
We take customer feedback very seriously and we are sorry that you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our services. If you wish to discuss your concerns, please call us directly.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. The vets were lovely explained everything they were doing. Made things much easier knowing that they took good care of cookie
Negative experience: In an attempt to help a few friends whose dog was injured ( he had broken his nail in an escalator) and was bleeding excessively, we Googled the nearest vet and arrived nine minutes later at Crown Vet. All they did was wrap a bandage around his paw. Didn't examine him properly. Didn't advice on further care charged over £100. £60-something for consultation (they didn't do anything not even advice was given on after care) £40- something for bandage dressing ( didn't clean the wound or areas around the wound). The wound started to bleed as soon as we came out. We went back to ask for advice. They said they need another £200ish to put him under and cauterized the wound. But because he had just eaten they wouldn't do that now either. When asked if we could at least clean hands and the dog just have us a few wipes and that was that. Poor service. More interested in making money than caring for animals. Total disregard for people and their needs.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service always professional and telling it as it is. From all the staff received nothing but courteous attention. In short unbeatable, would thoroughly recommend.
