Grace Lane Vets: Reviews
Positive experience: Good customer service caring staff, when had to book dog in for a emergency visit whilst on holiday
Fantastic experience: Extremely helpful and very friendly
Fantastic experience: Excellent service over the last two years, found illness other vets failed to spot
Fantastic experience: Great staff very friendly and helpful 10/10
Fantastic experience: Absolutly brilliant my boy was looked after so well tret like royalty one thing i will say you know you found the right vets when they even take the time to sew up my dogs stuffed teddy a pleasure to do buisness with
Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience when getting our cocker spaniel Lily spayed
Fantastic experience: Brilliant vets, come here with my pets from whitby, worth the travel for thier hrear customer service skills and there care for all animals.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best Veterinary in our opinion. Forget Vets for Pets et al. These are the real deal
Fantastic experience: Whilst on our holiday we had an out of hours visit as Thibaut our Parsons terrier had virus type symptoms. Excellent service, Rachel was very thorough and treated him accordingly. Nothing was too much trouble.
Negative experience: I was so disappointed with grace lane, my dog went in for a CT scan he was fine going in but once he came out he was very needy, not his character at all and very soon after started with a horrific hot spot where they took blood, when I called the receptionist she replied it happens regularly well im sorry but no it shouldn't. I contacted my own vet and after a double course of antibiotics and a course of steroids it finally started to heal after 2 weeks so definitely won't be going back there.
Fantastic experience: Visited whilst on a short break as our dog developed an ear infection. Easy to book an appointment, very helpful front desk, practical amd knowledgeable vet plus the cost of consultation and treatment was very reasonable. Highly recommended. It sadly shows our local vet in a bad light but 90 Mile round trip is a bit far otherwise we would be registering all our animals with Grace Lane. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic experience: Amazing service, fabulous staff, first class treatment for our pets. All the reasons we travel 40 minutes to use this practise, thank you all at Grace Lane ❤️
Fantastic experience: Fantastic care and professional advice from Nick at Grace Lane vets. Our dog needed emergency care while we were on holiday in Pickering. After calling the vets number during out of hours Nick arranged to meet us at the practice premises. We are so grateful for the thorough care our dog received as she was having breathing difficulties. She was given a scan and some medication. The pricing was transparent and reasonable. She's responding well, all thanks to Nick
Fantastic experience: Always happy with the service. That's why I travel for an hour & half to see a great vet .
Fantastic experience: A proper "old school vets". I was impressed with the personal service that addressed all my concerns about my Great Dane. I highly recommend Grace Lane vets. Thank you to all the members of staff for their help on the day and especially with regard to the follow up phone calls. Top class. Wuff wuff( that was Lincoln our Great Dane saying Thank you)
Fantastic experience: Both our dogs,Pippi and Purdy, have had operations here. The whole team are professional, kind and caring and the cost is very reasonable. Can't say fairer than that.
Fantastic experience: Excellent vet's they are really good and caring staff .Thank you once again.
Fantastic experience: Best vets there is and most importantly still independent
Negative experience: During covid we brought our new 12 week old male Shih Tzu in for his first injections and a health check the day after we picked him up. First off, the reception staff were rude and ignored us and just spoke among themselves while we stood right in front of them. We booked in and as it was still Covid times we went and sat in the empty side of the waiting area. We were given filthy looks by the staff…. When we were called by the vet, we went into the consulting room. We were horrified as he just picked up our Shih Tzu and held him up in front of him letting his rear legs just dangle free, our dog looking very uncomfortable. The vet then went on to say that our new puppy had 3 hernias, one in each inguinal canals and one (which we knew about) near his umbilicus and would need surgery for them all 'as soon as possible', as well as castrating him at the same time even though he was only 12 weeks old at the time of visit. No option was given for this, it was portrayed as an urgent must. He also went on to say that our puppy had severe stenotic nares that would need surgery urgently. He then went onto google and showed us images of severe cases of stenotic nares in bulldogs and other breeds of dogs, all of which were not Shih Tzus. While the vet was typing up the notes, we asked if he could check if the microchip number coincided with the number on the records. The vet grabbed a blue circular plastic object (chip scanner) and slammed it down in front of us. Feeling uncomfortable from this, we told him that we had no idea how to use the chip scanner so asked him to check the chip number. He appeared to be disgruntled but did it for us. He then gave our puppy his injections and when he wrote up the batch number etc on the vaccination card he wrote our puppy's name wrong even though we spelled it out to him twice. And it would be hard to get one letter wrong out of the 3 letters in his name. We felt it was done deliberately. We left and decided to never return. We took our Shih Tzu to another vet further afield (Julian Norton's practice) and we could not believe the difference in treatment our puppy was given by the new practice. He was treated as a family member, a living being, not just a dog. We were told that as our dog was teething, his nasal passages would narrow but return to normal after teething so no need for surgery. As a postscript….. the 2 hernias in the 2 inguinal canals, they were the descending testicles, not hernias, as our puppy was a male puppy!! Surely, even to a non-vet, this is fairly obvious that a young male dog has testicles, these were yet to descend. Again no surgery needed as soon as possible. It looked as if the vet at Grace Lane Practice was looking for surgery practice and better income result using our new Shih Tzu.
Fantastic experience: Kind, compassionate miracle workers. We were coming up on holiday with our elderly golden retrievers, one of whom had recently been discharged from our local hospital with urinary retention. Unfortunately he became ill again. The vets and nurses were amazing and kept Ted in hospital overnight including catheterisation. By the morning he was fine and has continued to improve daily. We can’t thank Grace Lane Vets enough and will be forever grateful to them.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely excellent practice. Visiting the area. My greyhound appeared to have a small lump on her side. The young lady receptionist suggested I popped in to see the veterinary nurse initially. I did so later in the day. All staff were super welcoming. Lady nurse checked Lily over. Lump had disappeared ( typical). We agreed it was likely to have been a tick which fell off. Checked Lily over & gave her a treat. No charge!!!
Fantastic experience: A beautiful experience, full of professional people I recommend with confidence. 5⭐️
Fantastic experience: Having taken my dog to grace lane. The experience was nothing but excellent from reception to the vets and staff. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Kind supportive staff who helped with our families pet loss. We have had our poorly rats pts here. Reasonable prices, and very helpful
Fantastic experience: As the owner of a hairy, mobile dustbin, Grace Lane Vets have rescued us (him) on more than one occasion. Rat poison, toy snakes, socks, nothing fazes my dog or Grace Lane Vets. Forget holidays or new kitchens, spend all your savings on your demented dog instead.
Fantastic experience: First time visiting today. Receptionists and vets all very friendly. Will be definitely recommending them.
Positive experience: Great vets. Very helpful and reassuring.
Fantastic experience: We moved our beautiful little Lhasa Apso, Macey from a local vets who were useless to Grace Lane vets after a recommendation from a friend. The vets was a hours drive but we wanted the very best for our little baby who had gone blind and had other issues. We seen a vet named Sophie Thurston and from the moment we walked in we knew she cared and wanted to help our little Macey. She prescribed some medication but made no promises, but was very thorough in her assessment doing various tests that we were very happy with. Sophie explained everything. We returned twice for check ups but unfortunately there was no improvement. Each time all the staff were fantastic and caring. We both discussed what the best outcome would be for our beautiful little Macey but neither of us had the heart to make the heart renching decision to let her go. We returned on January 2nd and asked the question that you dont want the answer to . Sophie helped us make that heart reaching decision, she showed compassion and emphthy throughout, Sophie gave our Macey one final little treat, let her go and wrapped her up like a baby in her favourite blanket with her favourite toy. All the way through this veterinary practice has in our eyes been outstanding and if we ever decide to get another dog we will register with Grace Lane Vets. A few days after Macey had gone to doggie heaven, Grace Lane vets sent us a sympathy card which was a nice touch. Thank you .
Fantastic experience: Really looked after oscar
Negative experience: we have just arrived home after visiting beautiful Yorkshire . Two days into our holiday we devastatingly lost our beautiful baby boy. We attended this vet on Monday evening 2nd of September 2024 as our boy who was a beautiful pug was struggling to breathe , we were distraught. We were met by a lovely receptionist who was caring and helped us straight away and gave us a cup of tea as we were very very upset and even showed compassion for our beautiful boy. We were seen by a vet who after discussing various options it was decided that the best course of action was to inject our boy with a steroid injection. Less than five minutes after being injected with this steroid our beautiful boy went into cardiac arrest in my husbands arms , we were quickly rushed back into the vets room where they worked on our boy to try to save him but heartbreakingly he died, we were distraught losing our baby boy who was also our best friend . We couldn't stop crying and still haven't , still crying writing this review . We had the heartbreak of having to attend this vets again today Saturday 7th of Sept 2024 to pick up his ashes before our long drive home and my husband was met by a very rude Young receptionist who handed over our boy as if she was just handing over a bag of groceries over the counter !!! This young receptionist didn't even take her eyes off the computer and did not once acknowledge our loss!!!! She was RUDE and had NO Customer service or any form of compassion or integrity!!!! She was more bothered about all the slap she wore on her face than any of the attributes above!! We were handed the bill and this veterinary Practice even charged us for the steroid injection administered to our boy which he had not had any benefit from as he died less than 5 minutes after having it , again NO compassion . Vets are supposed to be carers of animals but its not , its all about money making and less about care for the animals. Despicable !!!
Fantastic experience: Just called in to enquire about my little dog getting transferred from acomb to Grace Lane vets at kirbymoorside.staffvery helpfull. Got her booked in later this afternoon.
Fantastic experience: We've been with them for just over a year so far and they've been great.
Fantastic experience: Needed to take my dog whilst on holiday as she ripped her dew claw out. Had no problem with taking her there, got an appointment within an hour. Staff are friendly and supportive. Dealt with the problem and even took the bandage off the next day for me. UPDATE: My dog has had a cyst on her nose for 4 years. She started catching it and making it bleed so thought we'd have it removed. My vets in Doncaster, after saying it was a cyst, then decided it was a melanoma and to operate they'd have to take half her jaw away, then reconstruct it and it would cost thousands of pounds. I took her to Grace Lane and the vet I saw said that if it was a melanoma and she'd had it for that long, she wouldn't be here now. They operated and removed it, cleaned and polished her teeth and extracted 2 that were bad, and the cost was a fraction of what the Doncaster vets quoted. It was a lot less than £1000. They did an excellent job of removing the cyst. I cant even see a scar! I can't thank Grace Lane vets enough. They are excellent vets and I highly recommend them .
Fantastic experience: Just moved to area & registered my two cats. Took one for chipping. Staff very friendly. I am disabled & have difficulty walking. Vet carried the cat box out to the car for me which was extremely helpful. There is plenty of parking too, so didn’t have to walk too far.
Fantastic experience: Was on a road trip and had my frenchie in the car with us. On our way home to Edinburgh from Scarborough and the dog took really ill. Luckily we just passed the vets and found out from someone near by that it was minutes back along the road. The dog had severe heat stroke and for the quick actions of the staff probably saved my dogs life and I couldn’t be more grateful. Once we had to pay for the treatment the dog received the vet was really apologetic for what it cost, but the matter of the fact no matter the cost it saved my dogs life and it wasn’t even half as dear as most places. If you’re ever passing around that part of the uk I’d highly recommend this this vet if your pet needs seen to.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful with my dog
Fantastic experience: Lovely vets, very attentive and very thorough. Always happy to take my dog here.
Fantastic experience: My guinea pig has just been successfully treated for an eye injury. Toby literally saved my little Chihuahua's life when she suffered a horrific leg injury after being attacked by an akita. I trust everyone here completely with my fur babies and it's never a problem getting them seen quickly when needed

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience with the vets and receptionists. It's enough to restore your faith in vets, these large vet companies who take advantage of your love for your pets and try to take your eyes out need to hang their heads in shame. Thank you to all at Grace Lane Vets, long may you exist.
Fantastic experience: Great service. Knowledgeable vets. Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: I can't fault Grace lane vets, every time I've had to take my doggies here each vet we've met has treated them wonderfully and my dogs never feel anxious when walking through the door and never seem out of sorts when I've picked them up after they've had to stay there for treatment. I'm so happy we've managed to find such a brilliant place.

Fantastic experience: Took our 5 year old springer in for 'top n tail' (teeth and testicles ). Reception staff made the booking in lovely and simple, vet gave a complete overview of the procedure and potential complications. On collection a full after care pack was provided,, including meds, food etc, and we also arranged the week check up. All went well and couldn't have been happier with the whole process. Prices incredibly reasonable as well! 5⭐️
