Whilst on holiday over the christmas period one of our dogs became poorly and this surgery was the nearest to us. Would highly recommend this vets and wouldn't hesitate in using them again. Fantastic experience: Seems as though I didn’t press end on this historic review. So now this is two reviews in one . First review Yet again this wonderful practice has been amazing. Compassionate, caring and so reassuring. I had occasion to rush Yoko down on Saturday lunchtime…I’d accidentally dropped a raisin to the floor in the kitchen and luckily caught the sound of her chewing it. Realising what it was I phoned Priory Close and asked for advice which resulted in my taking Yoko straight down. So within 20 minutes of her eating the raisin she was being injected with an emetic and spent a good 30 or so minutes vomiting up the contents of her stomach which revealed the offending raisin, thankfully. After an antidote to the emetic we were able to go home with after care advice and I’m glad to report that Yoko is absolutely fine today. I can’t speak highly enough about Ian and his team. An added bonus to the wonderful care we always receive is that they don’t rip you off financially. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Thanks to you all And so to December 2025. Routine visit for annual vax and health check. No hanging around, we were seen pretty much as soon as we arrived. The surgery and waiting area are always clean and cosy. Ian and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable . Today I needed to discuss Yoko’s weight as she’s quietly gaining in mid life. Had a good chat with the vet and came away with clear understanding of how to address the matter without leaving Yoko hungry. Vax done, health check done …and as ever we came home with a toy. My monthly pet insurance with the surgery covers all routine vax, two health checks per years and gives 10% off all treatments and purchases. Good value. Especially as they remind me to when to administer Yokos flea and worming treatments which arrive in the post. I really am very happy with Priory Close surgery and can’t imagine taking an animal I love anywhere else. And a final word …this is an independent practice …their charges are very reasonable indeed, always.

Negative experience: I brought my senior dog with IBD to this vets with Kennel cough. The nurse gave him Loxicom. He began vomiting blood day 2 of the medication which was terrifying. He vomited blood in my car, he sits in the front with me. He has been poorly ever since. I called the vets and they said stop the medication. I stopped it and the nurse said “I’ve seen that medication cause devastation”. They gave me another prescription and this seemed to help but he got diarrhoea on the last day so I stopped it. He was ok for a day or 2 but is vomiting again. They gave me advice to “not starve him and give him a bland diet”. He is already on a bland hypoallergenic diet. I’ve seen many vets and all when a dog is vomiting recommend a fasting period to allow the stomach to settle. I’m really not sure about these vets. I’m going elsewhere as do not have confidence in them. Ian said to me “oh yes, a lot of dogs do not tolerate Loxicom”. I was silently horrified that a practice gives medication that causes “devastation”. I brought my dog here with a cough and he’s been sick ever since!?

Fantastic experience: Called up in Sunday because my cat was in lots of pain, was advised to come in straight away and was seen immediately, thorough check over, given antibiotics and anti inflammatory and he recovered very quickly. It also costs less than I was expecting! Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I had an unwell cat and was offered an appointment the same day (even a choice of times). My cat was given three injections and she improved dramatically within 12 hours. Very efficient and supportive and a very reasonable charge. It is great to see an independent vet offering fantastic service and reasonable pricing.

Fantastic experience: Priory Close have cared for my cat for a few years, and they are wonderful, fill me with confidence with the level of checks at the annual visit and the total absence of things I read and hear about elsewhere in the veterinary world at the moment, and the fees very very fair. When I called Monday morning needing a wound to be looked at, I was able to take him in immediately. It was a nasty procedure which needed doing, but the skill employed resulted in my cat being much calmer than I would have expected and cooperative in his hands, and no trauma afterwards. I would highly recommend this practice, and am so glad they were initially recommended by a neighbour.

Fantastic experience: Quick and easy visit. Phoned in the morning and got an appointment for later that day. Only had to wait a few minutes which is good for a stressed cat. The vet was calm and caring and got a second opinion to confirm the best treatment. Picked up the medication there and then.

Very pleased to have found a good vet . Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Our dog was taken ill on a Sunday afternoon and I was concerned that she had ingested something toxic. I rang the emergency number and was asked the relevant questions and asked if I was able to bring her into the surgery in 30 minutes. I did this and she was examined and given the necessary medication, advice on diet and reassured that I could phone back if I was worried. The vet referred to our dog’s notes and she was understanding and efficient. Thank you very much!

Fantastic experience: I took my cat in who was quite ill. I was very worried she'd have to be put down, however the vet was brilliant, gave her some treatment and she's bounced back to full health within a couple of days.

Fantastic experience: I had some worries about Edith which of course, I’d googled! I was prepared for a blood test, X-ray and a huge bill, but this practice is completely different from the big vets. They are truly in the business to care for your pet not raid your wallet with unnecessary procedures. It’s very reassuring and refreshing!

My dog is a chihuahua and can be a tricky patient but the team always put him first and make sure he gets expert medical attention when he needs it. Fantastic experience: I was unable to get to vets following a stay in hospital when my cat Ronnie became poorly. The lovely receptionist gave me a number for local animal ambulance and they took Ronnie in the same day. The vet kindly called me while ron was in there and explained everything and put my mind at ease. He was treated and the following day is almost good as new. Thank you all for your kindness would 100% recommend them.

Negative experience: Poor customer service. Mischarged by the receptionist, so their mistake. Called me up a month later to chase payment, which I disagreed to due to the mistake being 100% theirs. Received a letter subsequently saying we're now banned - due to their mistake. Find another vets.

Fantastic experience: I have been using Priory vets for many years. I have found Ian and his team extremely helpful, compassionate, and helpful everytime I have taken my pets to visit. I have found that no matter who you speak to whether its the receptionist, nurse or one of the vets they always listen to what I have to say and any concerns I have. On top of this they don't charge the earth for seeing my pets. They know that my cats are important to me and they treat them the same. I can not recommend Priory vets enough. I would never go anywhere else. Thank you Ian and all your team.

The Priory Close Taunton practice fitted us in straight away, at the very end of the day. They helped Scarlett in this emergency without us being registered as she is not local. Fantastic experience: As vets go, this was one of the most down to earth I have visited. No frills, just great veterinary care. My dog was at ease straight away. The vet had him eating out of his hand immediately. A full examination, treatment and an injection. All good, would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Sunday afternoon. Away from home. Dog vs barbed wire. Awful. Took a while to track down an out of hours vet but once we did my dog was treated immediately with care and professionalism. There is always a blank cheque book when it comes to my dog but I was very pleased with the bill. I was expecting it to be much more for a Sunday afternoon. Very relieved and grateful for the swift help

Negative experience: No thank you, they were not interested in seeing my sick cat. Because I have not registered there! My house cat, vomiting blood, they refused and told me to go to another vet. I did and highly recommend Tone Veterinary Centre, I was not registered there either but they were more than happy to help my cat!!!

Positive experience: Been my ver since 2001. Owner very kind, patient and will go the extra mile. Other staff kind and polite - nothing too much to ask. Only slight negative is difficult disabled access due to being housed in an old building.

Negative experience: One member of staff wasn't very nice and seemed like me and my cat bothered her and she kept telling me I was wrong when I know my cat. Glad I don't use them as my regular vets.

Fantastic experience: Amazing! We have been coming here for 19yrs, they're wonderful especially in emergencies.. the owner is fantastic at calming my small anxious dog that needs medication to calm her down,, attacks people that shes scared of and try to touch her, yet she's fine with him. My dog just got bitten by another dog, again they were fast to get us in for help and made sure she was pain and infection free! Thankful to have them!
