Carisbrooke Vets - Newport

Negative experience: Up to now we have always been happy with the service but this time I feel they let my cat down hundreds spent and becsuse results take such a long time to arrive and he became so poorly we felt we had to say goodbye bless him and we find ourselves waiting for results over a week later. I am so disappointed

Fantastic experience: We've always had a fantastic experience with this practice. All staff are very friendly and polite, you can tell they genuinely care about the animals. Super compassionate when it comes to the end of life visits also. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Our 12 week old puppy, Daisy, was feeling unwell. She had diarrhoea and was lethargic a few days after having her 2nd vaccination. After calling Carisbrooke vets we were seen immediately by a lovely vet named Jarisha. She was so attentive and gave Daisy a full check before administering antibiotics, pain relief and probiotics to treat a suspected infection. We were so pleased with our experience I made a point of taking the vets' name. Thank you, Jarisha. Daisy is peacefully snoring away and hopefully on the mend

Fantastic experience: We were on holiday and our dog Millie managed to cut her leg quite deeply. Carisbrooke saw us straight away and stitched the wound there and then. They explained everything very clearly and provided excellent aftercare information and advice. We also found the fees compared with our own vet at home to be very reasonable. Hopefully when we holiday here again nothing like this will happen again but we would recommend them 100%. Thank you very much.

Fantastic experience: We have always been very happy with the Carisbrook vets staff. Floki is a large dog who is dog reactive and they go out of their way by giving us the last appointment and seeing him outside. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic receptionist who was just a lovely person, really caring and understanding. The vet I saw very very good, explained everything concisely, very good with my dog. The only thing that would make it perfect for me is to see the same vet, the reason I say this the dog gets used to the same vet every time and the vet knows the dog.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Carisbrooke Vets highly enough! The whole team is friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. From the moment I walk in, my dog Annie has always been treated with kindness and patience, which instantly puts us both at ease. The vets take the time to explain everything clearly and never rush through appointments, and it’s obvious they truly love what they do. The reception staff are welcoming and efficient. I feel completely confident knowing Annie is in safe and caring hands.

Fantastic experience: I take my dog Monty here, the staff are lovely and always pleasant and polite. Nothing is too much trouble and I've called the practice to ask questions before and my questions have always been answered without a problem. My only disappointment is the parking which is sometimes full and being disabled, I can't walk that far. Mostly, I can get parked.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly caring, thoughtful, kind, sympathetic vets. My nan's cat had to be put to sleep and the vet who did it explained the entire process, including cremation options. I can't recommend this place highly enough

Fantastic experience: I have been with you for 19 for two dogs. I have only rarely had a consultation which wasn’t of help to my dogs. Return visit to a known vet has always ended up with a good outcome in terms of understanding what is wrong and how it can be treated. Your office staff are a credit to you and I have noticed some clear improvements in the Carisbrooke surgery recently. I really like the text notifications. All in all me and my dog are very pleased with what you all do.

Fantastic experience: Forever grateful We came to you, new to the Island, and with a little doggie in a bad way. He had been treated at a different local vets prior to our first appointment with Carisbrooke vets. The treatment was not working. Being with Carisbrooke, two operations and 6 weeks on and our little Dudley is on the mend now. THANK YOU. You are our heroes. Literally, twice a day, every day, for 28 days you saw him and cared for him - 'Team Dudley' all knew him, and looked after him. He got used to his friends taking excellent care of him. What mattered most to us as Dudley's 'parents' is that you ALL knew him, ALL knew what a fuss pot he is, how he screams, and ALL loved him nevertheless! We appreciate your expertise and the time and energy you put into helping us to get our Dudley Dog back in shape. In particular we would like to thank Rainick, Euan, Helana, Bethan, Darcey, Luke and all the Nursing Team who worked 7 days a week with Dudley and us. It was such a right call to get him back in and also to take over his medication administration. We are so pleased with his ongoing care plan too. We will be forever grateful to you - THANK YOU

Fantastic experience: Always feel confident that my cats are being treated well, find it really helpful that they now send a text reminder for when vaccination and flea and wormer appointments are due, I would definitely recommend this practice for anyone living on the Isle of Wight.

Negative experience: What a shame the advice given was not as it seemed. £158 per cat for booster and no guarantee of deflea treatment on the plan, if you have previously gone elsewhere. Not very good service, after all these good years I feel very let down.

Negative experience: After years of being with these vets & trusting them they’ve changed for the worse ! & in the last year or so gone rapidly down hill, no longer do you get the personal touch, they’re all about the money, misdiagnosed twice on the same thing with my dog, taken to another vet who picked up on it straight away & started treatment immediately, I’m glad I’ve moved both my dogs onto a far better vet practice & not remained here! Quotation for surgery 3 x the amount of ££ compared to my new vets, shame on you!

Negative experience: Once again, extortionate hiking of prices, over 25 pounds for a prescription (disgraceful) just brought 60 incurin 1mg tables and was charged £67.74. this can be bought online for 46p per tablet. You really got to stop ripping people off, you already make enough from veterinary bills alone. There is now a government review, to cap this extortionate behaviour from greedy veterinarian surgeries.

Negative experience: AVOID AVOID AVOID! This place used to be fantastic! NOT ANY MORE! How this place has 4.7/5 is totally beyond me and it must show how good they 'used to be'. Every time you go, you see a different vet and you're treated like an ATM. All the want is your money. Sod the animals which they don't care about!! Majority of the receptionist don't have a clue what they're doing and nor do the vets themselves. You pay them £204 for two dogs to have health certificates to travel abroad (why when it's £149 for exactly the same thing at another vets) and they fail to tell you essential information which then results in you being stranded in France for 26 hours, making appointments with an emergency vet and all you get is "I gave you the checklists" when we asked 4 different workers "IS THIS ALL WE NEED?". The vet stamped over a section in the paperwork which caused mass confusion. This place has gone down hill massively since Covid times/got taken over. Never again will I take my dogs to see these people/ rip off merchants!!!

Fantastic experience: I took our cat for her annual vaccination & check up. Staff were friendly and kind and gentle towards her. We were in and out before the actual appointment time. Excellent service as always.

Fantastic experience: Perfect visit yesterday with a particularly anxious dog (and owner) but we were able to keep him in our vehicle eliminating some of the stress of the surgery and the vet administered his examination and treatment in the boot of the car.

Tarbutt and Geraldine had been my pets for the past 13 years, and Rosie was lovely; so kind and patient and made a very sad experience as stress-free as it could be. Thank you, Rosie. Fantastic experience: I have used this practice for just on 20 years now. I have always found them to be very professional and easy to deal with. The only thing I am not overly happy about is the price of a Animal health certificate for my two dogs. Bearing in mind, I can sometimes travel twice a year, it is quite expensive.

Negative experience: This vets used to be very good much better than Pet Doctors but then they sold it to "just another money making business" just like them. Disappointed with the varying communication from veterinary staff relating a recent operation on our dog. Basically they don't have a clue what their colleagues are saying. They all have a different opinion. We were told twice by the same nurse, if the stitches haven't dissolved in a week contact us and we will arrange to remove them. After 2 weeks the stitches were still there, my wife contacted them, oh it's ok they will dissolve eventually! I initially checked our dog in for the op in a packed waiting room with all kinds of animals in there. 2 days later I returned him for a checkup, I was told in an empty waiting room, I'm sorry you can't wait here please go to the main waiting room, it gets too busy in here?

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to the team at Newport for seeing my cockapoo Betsy on Saturday afternoon after she was Bitten by a German Shepherd in a cafe an hour or so earlier. The receptionists were really helpful, the Vet was very thorough and understanding, and the Nursing staff helped out too. It felt like we were no bother even though we just turned up with little notice less than an hour before they were due to close. The time you spent helping her was really appreciated. She seems fine now and has started her 5 day course of antibiotics. Thankyou all so much.

Fantastic experience: My cat gets very upset with vet trips he doesn't like the travel to or from either but the vet we saw at the sandown branch was lovely. He seemed to relax a little bit as the appt went on I think because the vet was gentle with him. I've used this vet since he was a kitten & always have a good experience with them

Negative experience: They don’t want to help the animal , but they seem to take your money , I asked for a repeat prescription but they said no we need to see the dog first as it’s been 3 weeks since you was prescribed the medication and obviously not helping , they couldn’t even tell me what it was , but I already knew , it’s a hot spot on a Jack Russell , they are quite common in that breed , and as soon as I put a picture up on the jr site , every one comments , hot spot , but my vets didn’t know . In my opinion and experience this vets has gone down hill over the last several yrs . And I’m not very happy how they conduct themselves

Negative experience: Rude and very unhelpful receptionist, no answer when calling to say I will be a few minutes then refused to be seen after driving nearly an hour for my dogs appointments after being stuck in traffic! Ironic as I'm usually kept waiting 30 plus minutes when I arrive on time! Custom taken elsewhere!

Positive experience: Friendly and honest. Good vets. Nice reception staff. Difficult waiting room in Carisbrooke as it is small. Car parking limited. Right by a bus stop. All on one level so fairly easy with mobility problems.

Positive experience: ****EDIT 18 MONTHS AFTER INITIAL REVIEW**** ----Visited the surgery a week ago with another one of my guinea pigs and was shocked that the consultation fee had almost doubled in price. How? I thought there had been a mistake and queried it. The receptionist was lovely (as they always are) and explained the prices had gone up. Ok, fair enough maybe a few pounds but not double in price. Customers were assured there would be no changes when they merged with another, national company. Please don't ruin this practice! Green, Roberts and Butler have always been top dogs on the island for small animals but I can see things are changing (and not for the best).---- Had my first visit to the Carisbrooke branche today with my guinea pig, Enid. Was delighted to see Dr Green (who was initially recommended to me but in the process of getting registered, I thought he had retired). He was caring, compassionate and thorough. He treated Enid with great kindness and I just knew he knew what he was doing. I've been to other practices with my piggies before and always felt like they didn't really have a clue when it came to guinea pigs. I feel so blessed to now be registered at Green, Roberts and Butler. Plus the prices are brilliant. Thank you so much Dr Green and staff. Anyone with small animals - I highly recommend this practice.

The time given and patience to see if anything else could be done for our beautiful Molly dog was greatly appreciated, unfortunately Molly passed away peacefully with all her family around her x

Fantastic experience: Lovely clever people who care about your fur babies as much as you do. This is my second post after an unscheduled visit to you on Friday 23rd February 2024, and yes, yet again, we received the care, sympathy, support and so much help and advice for our poorly puss. Today, 24th, we returned pusscat for a further check up, medication, and reassurance. Much improved, I hasten to add. Special mention for Nuria, who was so thorough and reassuring and Amber who was so knowledgeable and helpful. Puss is so lucky to be under your care. Thankyou.

Fantastic experience: I want to thank Carisbrooke Vets for caring so well for my little Miniature Schnauzer Daisy, who recently had to be admitted after suffering from a nasty case of pancreatitis. They were quick to diagnose and treat her and thanks to their fast action and ongoing care she is now recuperating well at home. Thank you from Chris, Marie and Daisy!

Negative experience: Very unhelpful to mainland visitor, here for a month and needing puppy vaccination. Pretty poor.

Positive experience: It's the only independent vet left I think. Different vet everytime I visit. All very young. Was nearly charged £70 too much last but one visit! I queried why this bill was so high, as it was normally only £70 to £80 for the same treatment The receptionist investigated and realised they'd charged for a larger eyedrop gel. Not good at all. Always double check your bill!

Positive experience: Friendly, caring and understanding vet practice Complete compassion, care and understanding for my nervousness on getting my rabbit spayed. All went smoothly and bunny was home in under 7 hours, with follow up advice and meds and told to call if any concerns at all. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: We were visiting the iow when our dog got ill. We could see a vet within 10 minutes of arrival. A lovely lady who gave Mabel a thorough examination and prescribed antibiotics.

Negative experience: I lost my boy on Christmas Eve in a wet garage my cat was an indoor cat so stressful enough as it was I was told the night before two syringe fluids into him later told by the different that the next day not to do that as he could’ve got water on his this was never investigated, when they took him in to be looked at they never came to tell me how bad he was he came out with the catheter already in his arm to be put to sleep apparently somebody who works for them looked at my Facebook and said I was positive of Covid no matter what I said they didn’t believe me however I gave me no time to get a test. Had back and forward emails to Honor Roberts Who was extremely unwilling to investigate my complaint thoroughly or even listen to my concerns nor do they have a complaints process so you are left just dissatisfied ended up having to go to that mediation for them to actually bother responding to me I have moved to Vets since this used to be a good Vets I don’t know what an earth has happened to it but it’s gone downhill and I wouldn’t trust anyone there anymore unfortunately they have now ruined the last memories I have of my boy and that is one thing I will never forgive

Fantastic experience: Great vets, which genuinely care for your animal. Turn around for emergencies seems insanely fast, called to say we had blood in dog poo, I was being seen in 15 minutes.
